Style makes fights....Ortega can't beat anyone that's faster and better in striking...

Ortega thinks he's an elite striker when he should be using his jitz

His problem is he's slow and doesn't have an explosive double leg or single leg takedowns...
Yeah, but he would take a lot less damage if he accepted the role of a grappler and worked on it extensively, Damien Maia style. Instead he tried to strike with Max and Volk and took years off of his life

Does he have the cardio for that type of approach?

I think Aldo could've possibly won a very boring decision, but he didn't have the pace, feinting, and volume during his FW run to put it on Ortega like Volk and Holloway did.

He was almost murdered when he went to the ground with Volk.

no, he did far better than Aldo striking with Volkanovski, Aldo ate 53 to 3 leg kicks he did no damage to Volkanovski at all Ortega manged to cut Volkanovski in R1

Ortega is actually a very good striker, as last weekend demonstrated. Volk may have won a clear decision, but it was still competitive from beginning to end.

Also, he did use his jitz. Even tried to take Volk down a couple of times but got easily shrugged off. If Mendes had a hard time wrestling Volk how could Ortega?

Agreed. Aldo also wouldn't have put himself in some of those positions.

He used his jits 100%, to no effect
He nearly subbed him twice. That's "no effect?"

He is a very good striker but he is not an elite striker, his jitz is better. He's taken more damage in 2 fights than anyone ever has because he is using striking as a primary and not to setup his grappling.

But lots of fighters do it, over time they stray from what they are elite at and usually end up paying the price
