First of all congrats to TJ Dillashaw what a performance! I sure as hell didn't see that coming.

So for months the general consensus around here is that Aldo is a boring point fighter. In addition, many, many of you have been saying Barao is superior to Aldo. Not that it was ridiculous or anything I may have agreed at the time.

What is funny is now you are all acting like you knew all along Barao would fall! I've read at least 10 posts just now saying Aldo is a more talented "defensive fighter" (big upgrade from safe, point fighter) and how everyone knew Aldo was better all along.

It is beyond ridiculous I can't help but laugh. I wonder if you guys believe yourselves.

I've always believed in Aldo was better. Aldo may not be exciting anymore, but he is better than ever. Yes, most sherdoggers are idiots. Including myself to others.

Hindsight and all that.

Barao was and is still a serial killer, but his Arthur Mitchell just got Dexter'd.

But he'll be back.

Barao is definitely legit as hell, there's no denying that. Aldo is the better striker and counter fighter though. People were higher on Barao because he had more finishes recently, and people on here get blinded by finishes over dat "boring point fighting"

If he was Arthur Mitchell, doesn't that mean he'll have the last laugh? TJ better watch out, or more specifically, his girlfriend.

Aldo could have lost to Chad the first time they fought if he hadn't grabbed the fence. We don't know what would have happened.

He could have lost to Mendes the same way Renan lost to TJ.

I'm still picking Aldo to beat Chad but anything could happen.

I'm not sure Aldo's actual abilities can really be questioned. He does have a habit of letting the fight play itself out after a certain amount of time.

Let me make this clear, whoever thinks Aldo is a "boring, point fighter" is a huge idiot whose opinions about MMA and martial arts in general are completely worthless.

And Bar

Welcome to Sherdog.

After every event there is a lot of hyperbole and hype for any fighter that just won.

Any fighters that just lost? They were always cans.

Any fighters that just won? They're p4p GOAT world beaters.

On Sherdog you're only as good as your last win or loss.

Did you not see all the overhype DC was getting for beating Hendo?

If it was Jones that had just beat Hendo, all the threads would be about how Jones just beat "yet another past-their-prime middleweight"

I didn't know Barao would fail, but I've always said that Aldo is the better fighter.

The ppl that believed that are idiots including Dana Barao got crushed badly and personaly I don't see him doing any better in a rematch.

I honestly did always see Aldo as a better fighter. The whole "Barao as #1 P4P" thing only really heated up when Dana started going off, and the only reason he did is because he's obsessed with finishes. Barao finishes, and Aldo hasn't really stopped as many opponents in the UFC. So of course Dana's gonna be on Barao's nuts. But Barao was in the discussion for that spot. Definitely in the top 3, imo. Not anymore though.

Aldo just has this technical brilliance people tend to underestimate nowadays.

Even Barao knew this......

It's not hindsight if two of the most prominent mma analysts pretty much called it.
I personally knew the odds were off, even if I wasn't expecting such a complete domination.

Aldo is probably my favorite fighter. A lot of people don't think he's exciting or entertaining but I always love and enjoy watching him fight. Even if he doesn't go for the kill like he used too he still wins fights. Winning is all that really matters.

Then Mendes knocks Aldo off and maybe just maybe Sherdog can accept that any man can be beat on any night and any fighter can improve in leaps and bounds between fights.

I said a couple months ago if I was seriously making a P4P list Aldo would be #1, at worst #2. So yeah, I guess I always felt he was better than Barao.

I'm talking about people saying Barao isn't good because he lost, and that he was 'hype'. Barao was and is legit - TJ is just that amazing.

This. With GSP away, he's my favorite active fighter.
