On Sherdog Radio, Greg Savage said he had heard that Aldo pulled out of UFC 176 one day after learning that the California State Athletic Commission was asking for his contact details, presumably in order to proceed with random drug testing ahead of the bout with Mendes.

This raised my eyebrows. Of course, we don't know if it's true. Even if it is true, it doesn't mean that Aldo is using PEDs. It does mean that, humanity being what it is, suspicion will fall on Aldo - fairly or unfairly.

I haven't seen this mentioned on the board today (apologies if I've missed it) so thought I'd relay it.

On another note, I saw that Aldo has now pulled out of 5-6 PPVs since UFC 125 (his scheduled debut) due to injury. I really can't see the UFCA staking a PPV on him again after this. He's too unreliable.

Anyone else starting to suspect that the majority of fighters are hammering PEDs between fights, then cycling them off when it comes time for the fight-time pee tests?

It really does dent my love for this sport, to think about this.

Wouldn't surprise me. Aldo claimed every fighter in the UFC does steroids except for himself and his partners at Nova Uniao. Comments like that deserve suspicion

I mean would you be surprised if it turns out Aldo takes some questionable substances to deal with lingering injuries? That's usually how it happens.

Easy enough to verify. Hopefully Weidman can check this, breaking the story.

Or maybe he just got injured.

I don't suspect it, I know it.
And I do think it should be allowed as the fights become more exciting for me as a viewer.

Would anyone really be surprised if he was juicing? C'mon now. I wouldn't be surprised if DC, Cain, Weidman, Bisping, Cung Le, Pettis, Bendo, Jones, etc. were all juicing.

And DC, Chris, and Cain are my faves.

...or he's juicing so that he can train to maintain his endurance in a division in which he's had issues making weight for years now.

Not saying that I believe, but I wouldn't be surprised. I also find Savage to be one of the few credible people in the MMA "media."

Doesn't want to unfairly bring suspicion on Aldo

Unfairly brings suspicion on Aldo

Aldo has a history of injuries that only sideline him for a short amount of time. Suspicious.

I heard this on the SDS also. Savage said he was like 99% sure of the timing. He withdrew one day after hearing that the commission was going to come looking for a random drug test. Sketchy to say the least IMO. Nobody really knows the truth but Aldo I guess.

lately I have been feeling a bit more suspicious of the fighters who only fight like once a year.....but that could be me just thinking nonsense and spending far too much time on here

I dont care either way. fighters that are going to use steroids are going to use steroids. testing just makes it a hassle for them.

let these guys juice up, recover faster, and fight more. everyone wins.

it kind of sucks for the new guys just getting started though. need to feed their families and dont have the extra cash to get on a top notch regimen.
