Both these guys are about the same size. Aldo has some sick takedown defense and nasty leg kicks. He showed improved patience and counter striking. Conor's takedown defense and ground game are suspect. LW and WW are filled with alpha wrestlers. Guys who are larger than Conor. Conor had trouble with Diaz, a fringe top 10 LW who was rag dolled when he tried to fight at WW. And no, training with Gunnar, a LW fighting in the wrong division, does not mean a whole lot.

Only against fighters like Khabib. The bigger fighters who have good striking all finish him.
 
Aldo would run right through Eddie Alvarez, I'll tell you that.
 
Aldo is 4-0 against fighters who have competed @ LW in WEC or UFC

Conor is 2-2.........
 
I agree. Aldo has incredible takedown defense and great bjj (even though he doesn't use it)... Conor on the other hand just has boxing.
 
I think the Aldo that beat Frankie gives Conor problems in the rematch.

Aldo will be champ again.

That's not true at all. The Aldo that fought Frankie won't touch Connor. Aldo was playing the patient counter striker, but Connor is the longer fighter, not even counting his legs. Aldo won't be able to counter strike, he needs to come forward if he wants to hit Connor, and we all saw how well that went for him. And before you mention leg kicks, Aldo barely throws them anymore because his opponents figured out that he can't throw kicks if they're constantly moving. Aldo needs a few seconds to stop moving, set up the kick then throw it. If his opponents are mobile, he can't do that.

Frankie plays right into Aldo's strangers, whereas Aldo plays right into Connors.

Conor better LW i'd imagine, he will tool most given the lesser cut and have a lot more energy.

Does Aldo even have to Box with Conor? Conor only has a 4 inch reach, 2 for each arm, not a huge difference anyway.

Conor is a pressure fighter as well, Aldo showed Saturday night that he can counter the forward pressure, if he picks his shots and avoids Conor's left hand, he can win.

Aldo can kick better than Conor, he can kick him all day. I think the aggression he showed in their fight was a case of McG getting into his head.

The rematch will be different.

Besides, Aldo is still a more well rounded fighter than McGregor. If he wants to get it too the ground and submit Conor, he can.

Aldo clearly has learned from that fight and come back stronger.

Simply put, I completely disagree with you.
 
Part of the reason his wrestling is so good is his size. Once he loses that advantage look to see him get taken down more.

Conor is an offensive fighter, watch any of his recent fights and see for yourself. Aldo will be there for the counter, and the leg kicks will also be there. Aldo didn't stop throwing kicks because "his opponents figured out that he can't throw kicks if they're constantly moving", he stopped because he has fought wrestlers that threaten the take down by catching the kick. If you want to see Aldo kick a "mobile" fighter go watch his first fight with Frankie. Please don't comment on things you don't know about.

Good point about the kicks.

It's not the movement, it's the counter Wrestling.

If you watch their first fight, Frankie managed to get a knee tap on Aldo I think twice off of low kicks. Aldo was having none of that this time around. He stopped low kicking in this one because he wasn't allowing Frankie to get a Takedown advantage on him.
