stupid thread go ahead and poke fun but I was thinking back to when Iaquinta has been subbed against Mitch Clarke and Chiesa, he didn’t even think about tapping to either. He just accepted it and took his nap gracefully. Why don’t other guys do this? Haha

Can't be touched
Can't be stopped
Can't be moved
Can't be rocked
Can't be shook

Because getting choked out isn't always a pleasant experience. And it's better not to train the body to go unconscious when air is restricted.

Additionally, I'd argue that many of the times that when a fighter goes out, it has nothing to do with will power or willingness to get choked out. A well applied choke often times doesn't feel like you're getting that choked and suddenly you're out.

Well you can kinda see it with Al though, he fights it til he accepts it. Just comparing him to how frantically Conor tapped to Diaz, how come they can react so different to the same technique?

Ah. It comes out. Seems like this is a thread you're going to turn into a Conor hate thread.

Who cares how/why someone taps. It's one of the dumbest things on this forum and in this sport.

No I’m asking legitimately. Geez dude relax didn’t mean to hurt your vag by invoking your kings name. I’m curious the difference of one persons choke to another’s.

Lol. Sounds like you're the one with a hurt vag.

Go to a BJJ class sometime and get choked out a bunch. Report back on why you tapped.

How am I the butthurt one here haha fuck dude you must suck to hang out with

I've done both, sometimes ya just know yer fucked,or fine, others yer like "I'll be fine in a seco.... ZZZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzZZZZZZZZZ" gurgle zag damn. Doesn't take a pro to make that call.

You choose to respond to that part rather than the topic you brought up? Jeeze, don't be so sensitive lol.

But seriously. You could answer your own question by going to 1 BJJ class and getting your throat squeezed 20 different ways by a bunch of white belts beating your ass. And you'll actually know why sometimes people tap fast and other times why people don't tap at all.

There's a difference between a blood choke and an air choke. In a blood choke you can still breathe, so you're think you're fine until you're unconscious. In an air choke you literally feel like you're going to die and you tap the fuck out. It has nothing to do with one guy being tougher or one guy being a puss. Ask someone who has training to apply both types of chokes to you and you'll understand. If you've never been choked unconscious you're not living life.

Pretty much this. The only time I almost got choked out I was pretty confortable, not felling the the choke at all, then my vision started to turn black an when I realised my legs where numb and coudn't move and my arms where traped in a crucifix so I could not tap. Luckly my training partner noticed and let go the choke.

I've only ever been choked out in gi, by a bow and arrow choke and a gi choke from bottom.

Both times I thought I was fine and defending and suddenly I was waking up on the floor.

Hell, I had a buddy get put out by a triangle, said he never felt it coming at all. That alone goes to show how even the skill with the applied technique changes the experience. I've been hit by sloppier triangles where they are squeezing like hell, where no blood choke was happening but a slight air choke was happening.

Which was the one where he went to sleep right in front of Matt Serra who had the most tragically hilarious face?

The other part about it to mention, purely position. If yer arms and legs are completely helpless, you tap faster... it's like drowning.

Cranks are prolly more scary than chokes and leg locks will jack you up worse in the long run.

There is no shame in tapping if you know you're done either way. 96% of the time, I'd say a pro mma fighter saved themselves and knew they lost.

I agree with that last statement for sure. These keyboard warriors think they're tougher than UFC fighters though.

Karate + Jits for 7 years, purple in each, close to jumping black in karate, and black in jits, it is not a bitch trait to tap ... I work 52 hours a week with steel and ductile iron, lol, so fuck em
