I agree but Max is coming up on 30 years old and if he can't get the belt back from Volk, his bargaining power significantly decreases with the UFC. Right now he's in that Jon Fitch territory. I'm sure he was hoping Ortega won on Saturday. Can't see the UFC giving him another shot at Volk rn. He will have to keep blasting top contenders for another year or 2 to get his shot back.

The UFC FW division is on a weird spot. Volk is 2-0 against Max, and even after Max beats Yair, Volk vs Max 3 is not that a fight the fans are looking forward to. The fight to make is Volk vs AJ but it isnt happening. The UFC will probably book Volk vs Max 3 or Volk vs Giga and Bellator will probably book AJ vs Borics or AJ vs Pitbull 2. Neither of those fights are that big of a deal.

Max leaving for Bellator would be a "world turned upside dow", kind of event. If Max leaves, then anybody can leave.
