Apparently Elon and SpaceX believes that the Government is giving no bid contracts to Lockheed and Boeing because of bribes. He believes that the Air Force is continually pushing back to stop SpaceX from competing for these contracts. They apparently keep delaying SpaceX from getting contracts each time pushing it back later and later. While SpaceX gets ready to launch a resupply mission Saturday that will lead to the first ever barge landing. Elon believes that corruption keeps Lockheed and Boeing in control of the 11 billion dollar a year business. But what makes him really pissed off apparently their lack of their own rocket engines they keep buying old Russian rocket engines. He does not understand in this day and age with the status of relations with Russia we keep spending hundreds of millions to Russia. It looks like the earliest that SpaceX can bid is in June of this year? I guess him also going out to tell people this is going on is to improve his chances of getting these huge contracts?

Can't have competition in a capitalist society these days when it comes to goverment being involved, however when it comes to healthcare the left looks the other way, and when it comes to the military contractors the right looks the other way. They're all corrupt as F.

Just reiterating what we all know. Corrupt government officials have been taking bribes and kickbacks to accept bids since forever.

I hope SpaceX succeeds. They are really the only ones doing anything to advance space technology right now. Boeing and others are content to just rake in cash using 60 year old hardware, and NASA is just begging for billions to do nothing with.

They need to start a crowd funding campaign to pool enough money together for a nice bribe.

Or maybe they could get creative and offer space rides for key politicians. Something different.

Boeing and Lockheed ties are so deep with the US Government they're basically subsidiaries.

Hard to say if it's the dog wagging the tail or the other way around. I'd lean towards the latter in this case but they certainly aren't the only ones who can benefit from cozy government relations and tap into the spigot of public funds.

Pretty much. Most Americans think that NASA actually ran the Shuttle program. They did, but it was thru the United Space Alliance, equally owned by these two.

i really want SpaceX to succeed and win in this, the way i see it, its a win win. Lockheed and Boeing hardly push the envelope(they do sometimes, but they are way to expansive). Northrop i think the only one of the 3 that push the tech boundary

I don't understand the pun in the thread title. I was expecting some whacky poultry connection to this story.

Not suprising as ULA has a pretty tight monopoly as a launch provider for the Pentagon.
