was looking for something to watch on netflix last night and checked this documentary out. It interviews a bunch of former/current porn stars about what got them in the business, their experince with it and how they have tried to move on after it. You get a pretty decent feel for how they view the industry without the film itself trying to hard to show bias in either a negative or positive light.

Some of my thoughts:

john leslie and nina hartley seemed like the two most mentally stable and genuinely content of the actors interviewed. They were very real with what they got out of the industry good and bad and didnt lie to themselves about decisions they made and how it impacts their life. At the end of the day, if a posn star is happy with their life and comfortable with themselves, then it doest matter what others think of them. And both those two genuinely seemed happy and comfortable with life.

Now as for everyone else, you could defenitely see some regret and troubled souls.

Raylene in particular was interesting one. She talked about her drug problems and how she made mistakes. She was trying hard to get out of the industry and got her real estate license and started a family and is seen breaking down in tears talking about how her family means everything. Interesting to note that after the real estate crash, she is now back into porn. So just remeber that when you check out her films, she is not happy to be doing it but has to raise her kid you disgusting pervs.

Mary Carey flat out has rocks for brains. Seriously they show an unedited clip of her asking how to prononuce a basic word. She just comes off as mentally challenged.

Asia carrera apparently was a nerdy smart chick who wanted to be desired and got into the industry to have fun. She mentions being given a full academic scholarship to an ivy league school that she wasted by never going to class and just using the room and board until she bounced to hoolywood. SHe brags about being in mensa having an iq in the op 2% of the world and opening the door for asian actresses to go mainstream in porn mentioning kobe tai in particular who benefitted due to asia establishing herself although that is questionable since they both started filming in 1994 and saw their primes at the same time. Asia now lives in utah trying to stay out of the limelight and lives off of fan donations after her husband passed away and has battled alchohol problems.

randy west had some cool stories about how he got jenna jameson into the industry and really wanted to have a serious relationship with tera patrick and he seemed hurt that she got away from him. Hes single and you can tell he wants to settle down and be a family man, but he seems like a nice guy.

Anyways, some interesting stuff.

Interesting shit. I've always wondered what gals like Jenna Jameson and Wendy Whoppers are actually like in everyday life. I imagine they're dumb as fuck, but they've been gettin' paid to make movies that we pay to jerk off to (well, on account of the internet, not really), so who're the real schmucks in this equation?

Also, I've always wanted to shake Belladonna's hand for taking so much **** in that ass and never complaining. She even, dare I say it, seems to be enjoying herself?

I can't believe this hasn't reached 80 pages yet.

It's on my instant queue, have yet to give a watch

Seriously tho sounds like a very interesting documentary. Whenever I think of Hartley I think of boogie nights. Poor Macy lol.

They interview crissy moran who left the industry and went full on religious and celebate saying she was suicidal and had cut her wrists during a set one time. They then go to hartley reffering to girls in porn who find god saying those people should never have been in the industry and need to find somethgin in life that will forgive them and embrace them thus religion is appealing to help them move on.

It felt like watching a middle-class HBO prostitution doc. As a human I feel for all of them. But as someone who's lived a shitty lifestyle at one point I don't pity the gal who went back. She could work harder jobs, but fucking people on film for $500 a pop is easy money. I grew up poor as shit, I'd look at my parents wierd if I found out that instead of manual labor at $7/hr they decided to fuck on film to `feed' me. I respect people doing whatever they have to do for their kids, but I don't think anyone has to do porn.

agree, i dont feel too bad for them. People make their own decisions and life and must live with the consequences.

There was another girl who i dont remember her name and she moved to the middle of nowhere and started a family with clear animosity towards her porn life and she talks about how she met a man who didnt recognize her and loved her for her and she seemed so proud of that. But in my head im thinking if you fuck for money, that is part of who you are. You cant just deny that from your past and expect everyone to not judge. Maybe telling him and him staying would be better indiciation of him loving you for you although in this case he did stay.

Raylene's not hot anymore, so I won't be checking her films anyway. I trust that just makes her more unhappy though.

I gotta watch this though at some point.

I wish they would have interviewed Cheyenne Silver for this. She was always one of my faves (along with Asia - but we've heard her Mensa stories a million times now) and I've heard about some things that went on after her porn career (car accident and mainstream attempt).

Transparency with those who love you should be expected. Man that'd be a conversation with the missus "So I did recognize you from somewhere!". Followed by her "So you used to watch porn huh?!". Then "Of course lady, I was single and hadn't met you yet".

John Leslie died of a heart attack shorty after the film was made.

Interesting movie though, it seems like someone who is emotionally balanced with a positive view of sex can do fine in the industry, but people like that probably don't get into the industry.

Wow. Thanks for the heads up. Will watch.

Jessi Summers was one of those porn stars who found Jesus as well.

I think she made a comeback though before finding Jesus a second time, lol.

Jesus is everywhere. In me, you, and all over her face.

Shame about Raylene. Sad story.

I'll be back in five minutes.
