My position is that there are two billion Muslims and they're just people. It's safe to say they're overwhelmingly more conservative than westerners, although they aren't a monolith.

I've had close Muslim friends my entire life. I'm not some naïve leftist kid who "idolizes" them or puts them on a pedestal. They're just people, as good or bad as any others.

Do you disagree? Is it your position that Muslims are bad?

I will be spending the holidays with many Muslims. My brothers wife is American from Afghanistan. Her family is our family. But there is an element and even they admit it. Some of the males deep down really have dangerous ideals brought upon by their religion. Towards women, towards whites, towards non Muslims. That is just the truth. These attacks happen globally for a reason. Jihads and terror attacks are very common. To deny there is an issue is just as dangerous as ignoring there are problems with violence in the inner city. We can't put out heads in the sand.

I think you're confusing liberals with leftists.

Liberals are against Islamists too, and have killed more of them than any party of earth. Thanks Obama. Religious theocracy and authoritarianism is very illiberal.

Rightist of almost all flavors however, can't separate Islamists from ordinary Muslims.

If you at all familiar with the teachings of Islam, it's actually the radicals who have it right. They're not out there practising some extreme version of Islam from some other book. No, what they're doing is simply practising exactly what their religion teaches them, not some radical Islam, just plain vanilla Islam.

So yeah, "ordinary Muslims" who might be against straight up killing you for being an infidel are Muslims only in name, but they're still a major problem because they either willingly or unwillingly stand behind and empower the radicals.

In the end the entire ideology is backwards and incompatible with modernity, even if the person is not radical, the teachings themselves are radical.

The position is that Islam is bad, and a decent person would distance themselves from it if they were actually a decent person.
