UFC bantamweight Adrian Yanez sees big things in his future with a win over Rob Font.

Yanez (16-3 MMA, 5-0 UFC) takes on Font (19-6 MMA, 9-5 UFC) on April 8, drawing his first ranked opponent in the UFC. With Font’s experience having fought the likes of Jose Aldo and Marlon Vera, Yanez aims to catapult his career with an impressive finish. The 29-year-old has earned bonuses in all five of his octagon wins.

“If I go out there, and I starch Rob Font, that does amazing things for my career,” Yanez told The Underground. “That does amazing things just for what position I get put in. I changed my life getting into the UFC, and every fight after that has changed something else about my life. It’s only been great things. I only see this fight as changing my life for the better, and I 100 percent plan on doing that.”

Yanez has previously called for a fight with one of the division’s biggest stars, Sean O'Malley (16-1 MMA, 8-1 UFC), who’s coming off a win over ex-champ Petr Yan. But if he can finish Font, Yanez thinks he may finally get his wish.

“Inevitably it’s gonna line me up for the bigger names and possibly give me a fight that has kind of been looming around for a little bit, which is the Sean O’Malley fight,” Yanez said. “It would probably put me up there, and honestly with how things have been, me going out there and knocking out Font, it’s only going to make that fight so much more interesting and so much more bigger than what it would have been if it would have happened back last year.”

I hope this dude can't get a head coach before he runs into a legit grappler. Love me some Yanez, some of the smoothest boxing combos in MMA. He doesn't eat anything super clean, but he does need to work on his defense.

Dan Rob Ige Font
Rob "50K" Font

Tough fight for both guys. Rob might be on the decline, but he's still a big step up from tony kelley, Davy grant, and randy costa. Hell, costa learned how to jab from rob font and he pieced yanez up with it before he got folded in round two.

I'm looking forward to this fight.

What TS meant is that Yanez is going to starch Dan Ige by sucker punching him, Jorge Masvidal style, and gain the notoriety and the fame that comes with it

Shit I thought Font pulled out or something

I'd probably pick Yanez over Ige.

As for Rob, I think he's better than Yanez but his chin is a huge liability especially against a quality boxer like Yanez. I'm picking Yanez by KO, or UD from scoring a couple of knockdowns despite getting outstruck most of the time.

I don’t think this will end well for Rob, Yanez by KO.

I think Rob is the better fighter overall but Yanez is a lot faster and hits hard. You mix that with the damage Font has taken in his last few fights and I wouldn't be shocked to see Adrian get him out of there. Font has been dropped multiple times in his last few fights. Still, if he fights smart, wrestles, can keep him in front of his jab, he could pick Yanez apart.

Also, props to Rob for fighting Yanez down the rankings after his last two were against bigger names.

Yanez is 5-0 in the UFC and besides a bad performance vs Davey Grant I don't remember any of it. I'm curious if Font decides to wrestle, I think Yanez will be too much for him at this point. This matchmaking makes me happy, let's give new contenders a chance at top 10 rankings with competitive match making.

Love both guys, hate to see either lose. Rob is a dog, he's not going to roll over

Ige OR Font can get it. Either way Yanez runs through em. I honestly believe Adrian will eventually be champ:cool:

It'd be very impressive. Nobody has ever finished Font, aside from Pedro Munhoz. He was hurt badly multiple times against one of the very best finishers, Chito Vera, and he made it to the final bell.

Once a guy gets hurt multiple times, it does start to look inevitable that he'll be tko'd. Even though he was fighting Aldo and Font, it's happened a lot lately. Yanez is definitely one of the top candidates to take him out. He's got exceptional boxing.
