Thinking about getting a pair for conditioning, light weight type stuff, and just wondered if anyone had good recommendations. They pair I have now are crazy cheep and suck, and the Bowflex ones are fragile from my experience.

I have some cap barbell ones. They were cheap and seem to be pretty durable.

I wouldn't buy anything with "Bowflex" written on it.

I want some Powerblocks but the 5-90's are like 600. I've been watching craigslist looking for a rack of regular dumbells. Basically I'm a tightwad.

I saw these, they look like they could fit the bill> I just want something for swings, TGU, etc.

Back home, my folks have a pair of adjustable DB handles for standard plates... I've had like ~90lbs on it I think, and it's been fine... done some swings and catches with like 50lbs...

I bought a CAP set for pretty cheap back in the day and it uses standard 1" weights. IIRC it was around $50 for both handles, collars, and around 50lbs of weight. I've added more weights with the cheapest 1" plates they sell at Wal-mart. I've used around 75-80 on the handles before and they hold up just fine for at-home accessory work or conditioning. The only problem with mine is that I wish the handles were a bit longer so I don't have to use the larger 25lb plates which make it a little cumbersome.

Just make sure to get some good collars on there, you don't want the plates flying off when you're doing swings or snatches.

Don't buy the ones where you push a button and it adjust the weights, they way they make em you get maybe a half inch of ROM before akwardly hitting yourself. There is nothing wrong with cheap weight, hell, you can work out with jugs of water. The downside with chap weights is that theyre big for the weight.
