Why can't this godly striker put away a guy who, 3 rounds in, is badly gassed, shuffling around the cage, unable to bust a grape?

I get that Tavares is tough. Still, two rounds of showboating, dancing around and half-heartedly popping a helpless opponent is a bad look for a guy who is being touted as the greatest striker we've ever seen.

Conor may only have 8 minutes of KO power in him, but at least he can and will finish most guys in that window.

I enjoyed it. His striking was literally light years ahead of Tavares’.

I hear you but Tavares is an islander, they're infamous for their chins. So I wouldn't put too much stock in Israel not being able to finish him..

On a side note - I was super impressed with Israel's grappling, the dude has really come a long way..

He's wired to be a point fighter. The more he has UFC wins he will finish more. Dudes awesome with a great chin.

What was the comeback on Adesanya winning by decision/fight going the distance?

;)

He hurt him a couple of times, but for the most part he was toying with him. It's awesome to see such stand-up skill in MMA, but watching the last 4 rounds of potshotting is too damn long to stay invested. Toy with him, then finish him, and go get some fans.

I was more impressed with his TDD than his striking.

The guy may be the best striker in current UFC along with WB and Darren Till, but people will hate cause they prefer a sloopy brawler like Lawler or Brunson.

On the plus side: his clinch game looked good and his grappling looked decent, though let's be honest: he only started looking good on the ground once Tavares was nice and toasted.

Can you imagine what would happen to him against the top grapplers in the division ...or even an all-around talent like Gastelum?

Seemed like he was sparring with Tavares rather than trying to finish him. I thought his stand up looked pretty damn good, albeit not as impressive as I thought it would look, probably due to him being ready to defend takedowns.

His cardio seemed pretty stellar too, as well as his overall grappling.

It isn't like Pereira isn't a hard puncher... Pereira would do the same to any other middleweight in boxing gloves (...well, except from Artem Levin who made him look amateur). Getting knocked out by Pereira isn't anything to laugh at, though. It shows how hard he punches with the bigger gloves on.

maybe he just couldn't put him away?

Because he’s still only Adesanya and hasn’t quite yet reached super saiyan.

I just don't think he has that Anderson Silva type killer instinct when his opponents are hurt. Hopefully he'll develop it over time but he's still fun to watch.

What does Conor have to do with Israel?

He needs to be a little more careful in there and not leave himself open often. There was so many windows but Tavares just couldn't get there, the upper tier of the division will make him pay on those openings.

All his fights his opponents are intent on playing defensive after the first round.

Seems like a growing theme in israels fights

I know dude it's like when Demian Maia gets these guys to the ground and humps them for 25 Mins. Can't you like submit him already boss?
