soccer payment (1951 in germany) was even better than ufc payment.
Apparently UFC had been trying to sign Adesanya since 2015, he held out and got that big bag. I don't hate him for it.
He was a tournament champ in Glory and KotR so I'm guessing you can negotiate a better contract when you're bringing in a built-in audience from another league/sport. Holm did the same thing, and I'm sure you can point to other fighters as well.
It's pretty fucked, for the RDA fight he got 79k to show and they made him wait 7 months for it... He was used to getting more than double that with win bonuses and performance bonuses. He got 165k to show in his last fight plus another 165k because he won and 100k for getting both fotn and potn bonuses.
The point is izzy deserves to make the money that gas makes...
He makes more and gas gave upnhis title pay title fight for it lol
its always been weird to me how fans will debate or take a general interest in fighter pay. you have nothing to do with any of it. you dont get to spend it, save it, look at it. you literally paid 50 dollars just to watch it.
Funny. Fighter pay sucks until a black guy makes good money. Then its questioned.
His agent must be a damn genius
there are plenty of boxers who make mothing as well. floyd made 100 million but im sure guys on his undercards made pennies.
news flash soccer is bigger than all sports overseas.
Well, no shit. Most pro fighters actually lose money because of the cost of training.
The conversation is about what headliners get paid though.
bro you know that german soccer players made 0$ right? In 1950 everything changed:
they made 400$ (was very good money) 5 years later they made 100.000$ and 1960 or maybe 1965 soccer players earned 200.000-800.000$
German soccer players werent allowed to earn money.
imagine the UFC in 1960 ... champions wouldnt even make $10.
doesnt matter. hes throwing shit at a wall
It’s the image the ufc wants to send. They don’t want people to see kelvin. They want people to see isreal.
It goes way way way way beyond Dana white. Larger powers at play.
All four guys in the title fights should've got a mil. We've talked about the pay structure to no end. It is what it is. I hope by some miracle it improves for the fighters quickly.
The way Dana White would spin this is, "We expect our fighter to fight. If they average 3 fights a year, that's a good living". As if ever fighter will be injury free and get their win bonus.
In theory, 70k x 3 is great for your average fighter, but life isn't theoretical.
Kelvin Gastelum seems underpaid and perhaps Alan Jouban. But that is very debatable in regards to Jouban.
Credit to his agent. Iaquinta is prob shitting a brick right now haha
Cause it was a market in it's infancy, and he helped pioneer mma to what it is today in the british area through the exposure he brought it. The local gate was always strong when Mike was fighting as he headlined many of their british cards. So yeah, he deserved what he was paid. It's more than just counting off ppv buys what your worth is to the company.
