Did he really beat the snot out of him though? For 1 round in the 5th certainly but before that all cage-side judges had it at 38 a piece going into the 5th and I think there's broad consensus both on here and in the wider MMA community that the judges had it 100 percent right.

Revisionist history at it's finest to suggest Israel was barely hit. He dominated the 5th round, before that it was an incredibly close fight and was 38-38 going into the 5th and Gastelum had several big moments, notably one where he clearly rocked Adesanya and oddly went for a takedown instead of trying to take further advantage on the feet.

5 years ago mate when he was what 23? Max Holloway lost to Dennis Bermudez when he was 21 or 22. Fairly easy argument to make that both have improved since.

Well of course with round 5, that's the beating snot out of part lol, that was the 10-8 round for Izzy. The first two rounds were split, but Kelvin didn't really do much damage while Izzy landed the harder shots in the rounds he won. Even though Kelvin won two rounds, they were close while the rounds Izzy won were more clear in his favor. He had the knock down in round 2 and several in round 5.

Can he be KOed so easily? I thought his islander genetics gave him a pre-agricultural advantage when it comes to durability.

I underestimated Gastelum for a long time but he built an impressive record and developed some good boxing. Especially in the pocket which is where Whittaker can be deadly as well.

Adesanya will be ready but i wouldn't be surprised to see either fighter rocked early. We are lucky to have top top MWs with great recovery ability. Enjoy this.
