I'm trying to decide between purchasing either Adams Boxing Shoes (http://www.adamsboxing.com) or a pair of Mizuno boxing shoes (http://global.rakuten.com/en/store/koubudo/item/10002479/?s-id=borderless_browsehist_en)

I traditionally wear a size 11 U.S. which Mizuno's do come in but from what I've read on here and elsewhere it is recommended to go half a size up when it comes to Japanese shoes. Unfortunately though the only way to go half a size up is to get a pair custom made, that said I've read a few reviews where people normally wear size 12 nike's have bought size 29 Mizuno's and found them just fine.

Which brand do you recommend?

Never had either but I'd like to get a pair of ab's

Think there are slight differences in fit across the Mizuno model range - I use US12 for Nike, US12.5 for Adidas and tried a few pairs of Mizuno size 29.0cm while in Japan. For the more popular style (with folding tongue and/or folding ankle flaps) the boots were simply too tight - might be ok if only wearing for a fight but would definitely cause some discomfort. When I tried the high cut model, the fit seemed ok - pinched a bit but nowhere near as bad as the other styles. Could definitely have trained in them wearing thinner socks or something like that

I have tried size 29 Mizunos and I just found them way to uncomfortably tight, I asked Steve from Rakuten if I could get a pair custom made just a half size larger so 11.5 and he told me no, but I'm sure it is possible. In the end I went with Adams shoes and so far I am loving them. Everybody who owns a pair says their the most comfortable boxing shoe on the planet and i complete agree. They have a very soft feel and are very light. They accommodate different feet type quite well, run true to size and have great grip. Now I've only tried Nike Inflict 3's and Adidas Box Hogs while sparring outside of the AB's but the AB's are definitely better than those 2 shoes. I'm thinking about buying a pair of Hyper KO's next but in all honestly I probably don't need them cause the Adams are great.
