Adam Fugitt beat tf out of Kinoshita!

Yeah who doesn't love to see an exciting Japanese knockout artist lose to a journeyman who got in the UFC by derailing another young prospect.

Yeah, definitely disappointing but the UFC is signing super green, unproven prospects more and more now rather than paying real money for top tier prospects and fighters outside the UFC. So we will see more and more of this.

Japanese favorites getting dominated in the UFC, name a more iconic duo...

This whole card was pitched as the tourney final to fighters from Asia to earn a contract in the UFC, so just by that alone this was a contender series type of card to begin with

Even on the contender series it's an issue so this response doesn't hold up to me. Sometimes they sign really top flight prospects and other times they sign relative cans to be on that show. The UFCs standard for quality talent and preference towards national demographics should be criticized.

This has been a good card right up until this sleeper. The last minute of a close fight and you’re laying against the guy, not moving while he just punches you in the body over and over. Pathetic.

Unfortunately I cant disagree with anything you said. This will indeed happen again but I cant assign all of the blame to the UFC. When a young prospect is signed after a couple of fights the onus remains on them to continue to get better.

I don't think losses like this are necessarily a bad thing for a young fighter either. Sure, its a big shot to the ego, but it shouldn't be consequential enough to derail a prospect unless they never had the work ethic to get better in the first place.

It's complicated. It can be a learning experience, it also often absolutely ruins careers, sometimes guys never fight again, confidence shatters, concussion symptoms linger etc. Who knows. It's not like Kinoshita lost to another rising prospect or a proven guy where he bit off more than he could chew, he struggled on the contender series then got smashed by an 8-3 guy who isn't a top 100 WW.
