Going to see a neurosurgeon tomorrow about having a surgery for slit ventricle syndrome. At the same time I’m gonna ask about getting an ETV (endoscopic third ventriculostomy) done as well so I never have to go through this shit again.

Pretty messed up to say you’re excited to have brain surgery, huh?

I guess this thread is a small way of dealing with nerves.

Update: Went to see the neurosurgeon yesterday. He said he wants to try a different method other than surgery to correct the slit ventricle syndrome. Wants to try to avoid such an invasive procedure. I guess that’s encouraging. I’m not too convinced it’s gonna work though, judging by my other dozen or so experiences with this kind of thing. Crossing my fingers.

Edit: Update on page 9, post 166 I think.

Yeah, I’m always gassed beforehand. I get to about 6 on the countdown before I lose consciousness. Wake up feeling pretty groovy lol.

Thanks for the encouragement. The surgery time still has to be arranged, but I can’t see it being more than a couple of days from now.

Yeah I love being knockout, especially with anesthesia going through your veins up to your brain. The tingling feeling that you feel in your brain is incredible, the high is magical. I'd love to get feeling every time.

    Good luck

What are your symptoms, how did you find out you had this issues and does the surgery solve them 100%?

    Look up hydrocephalus.

Note: If you look up google images, I actually don’t look like the messed up ones, for which I count myself lucky. Lol

Slit ventricle basically means the third ventricle in my brain has the possibility of collapsing from cerebral fluid draining too quickly.

    Fun stuff.

Haha more like trepannig with a shunt inserted, but that scene was awesome.

I was injured on the job in December by a 100 lb panel landing on my head, and I guess the force from the blow did something to rattle things pretty good besides the concussion.

I’ve been having headaches, nausea and dizziness constantly for the last 2 months since the accident and thought I just had a concussion, but a CT scan showed otherwise.

Most likely the blow to the head caused the fluid to drain more quickly, so it’s kind of like what happens when you suck the air out of a basketball. Well, different, but same.

My dad had two neurosurgeries a while back. It was scary af, and we all got scared when the first one, a weird surgery using glue, but the second one worked.

Do you rehab like a demon!!!

My dad bounced back pretty well.
