"Act like a champion" where did the idea that a champion should act a certain way come from?

In mma people act like champions are supposed to be some type of ambassador of the sport, that's just silly. The champion need be nothing but the best in the division.

You're not necessarily supposed to be a role model...

BUT on the same card you're NOT supposed to:

- run your car into pregnant women

- get DUIs

- snort cocaine

- abuse steroids

People are gonna hate and be hypocritical anyway.

One should just embrace whatever is coming at you at this point.

Got some proof that JBJ abused steroids?

I kinda wish Bisping could rule MW like Anderson did. 20 minutes after winning the belt, he called Rockhold a "f****t." He has no class lol

Havent MMA fighters ACTUALY KILLED PEOPLE? SOOOOO, when are their names going to be brought up as much as Jones? Talk that 'champion' shit all you want, but the fact supposedly intelligent people refuse to see that it comes off as an agenda to continually name drop Jones, when others have done worse is farcical.

Is this the third one this week? Most people DO care about whether a fighter is a 'good' or a 'bad' guy outside the cage. Stop with all these pointless threads and deal with it.

Because, as a champion, you're not just representing yourself. You're also a de facto representative of your division, org and sport.

The answer is in history, my friend. "Act like a champion," simply means to be better in all areas that one can manage (or the best). Being intelligent, respectful, and thoughtful are all hallmarks of a champion of the mind, as well as the physical "battlefield," whatever or wherever it may be.

Basically, even a precursory run through sports and athletic activities throughout history will show you how things have made this definition lose meaning.

sponsors, money, the media

its really fun to have someone be forced to fit a mold and then destroy them when they dont fit it

Old white guys who didn't like the way young black men celebrated their victories.
