I've seen a few threads which deal with careers, jobs, and things of that nature. We've all had dreams growing up as children and what not, and I'm interested to see how many of you actually achieved your dreams. Growing up, I was very passionate about basketball. I of course wanted to become a basketball player, but needless to say, the dream didn't couldn't come to fruition. Now, I write for an NBA team (won't say which in particular), and I'm basically "living my dream." As time goes on, I'm hoping to make more $$$ to live a more suitable lifestyle.
I achieved them at an early age, than lost them. Im not giving up and Im looking to do it again, in a safer way.
Always wanted a healthy marriage, children, and a successful career. I'm at 2/3, and I'll find about the next step in my career in a few months.
Kind of. When I was in high school I said, I want to make 100k by 30. As an engineer, I am now. Thing is, when you're in high school 100k/yr sounds like a lot. When you're an adult, you come to realize you can't support any one else but yourself on that income. So I am reevaluating things and keep working at achieving an updated dream with my new knowledge as an adult.
I had several dreams as a kid, and they evolved as I got older into my teens. Like most children of the late 80's early 90s I watched a lot of action shows and movies, so I wanted to be some kind of an action hero in real life. Like a crazy cop, spy, or mercenary. As I got closer to my teens, I realized that stuff is for kids. But I figured I could do something with martial sports. It is tough, challenging, exciting, masculine. So I trained in it as a teen. And I figure even if I did not, it is still a life long hobby. That did not happen. I will kick myself because I did not work harder, or was not more aggressive at making this happen. I now work in real estate and dream of becoming the next Donald Trump with much younger girlfriends and all. And I still fantasize about being James Bond while I drive to and from work. I guess I will never grow up.
I'm trying to get back to my orginal dreams which got derailed at 17 when went into debt and became a slave.
My dreams aren't an end point. I'm currently doing exactly what I want in life and having a lot of fun doing it. I've got goals set out that I'm achieving, and am raising the bar year-to-year.
Working on finishing up my education then will see if my dream pan's out. Alot of unexpected twist's and turns in the working world.
Kind of while i like working as an engineer with great pay i have another dream to learn how to design and tailor suits like the master tailors on savile row. maybe one day open my own high end man shop with suits, scotches and cigars.
Well on my way. Both landed a nice job career-wise and got engaged a couple months ago. Just have to stay the course, land a nice house, a couple of kids and so on. You never know what's gonna happen though, but in most scenarios I'll be more than fine.
No, as a kid I dreamed of harnessing nuclear fusion on earth and solving the world's energy problems.
I just always wanted to be Iceman's wingman. Haven't even met Val Kilmer, and tbh I'm over him anyway
