Correction 4pm UK - 5pm EU [Can someone adjust the title - Thank you]
ACB 38 - Breakthrough
This really is a card not to be missed and you can enjoy the action on the English commentary stream on YouTube with commentator Bryan Lacey and also we’re very excited to be joined cage side by UFC fighter and top UK Bantamweight Brad “One Punch” Pickett.
This Friday the 20th of May the Absolute Championship Berkut train leaves the station yet again heading, this time, for the ‘KSK Express Arena’ in Rostov-on-Don, Russia for ‘ACB 38 – Breakthrough’.
ACB 38 will see their only vacant title, the middleweight championship, finally claimed with the headline bout of this card. The middleweight division is arguably the deepest of ACB’s roster and coming together to see who can claim the top spot of this division are two of the most exciting fighters out there.
In one corner we have Arbi “Monster” Agujev. Monster by name and by nature. Training out of Berkuts Polish gym and training partner of the UFC’s Mairbek Taisumov his exciting, high reassure fighting style have lead him to a record of 20-6-1 with a current 10 fight win streak. With heavy hands and good kicks it’s grappling that is his preferred style and has seen him finish 13 of his wins by submission.
In the other corner we have the favorite for this contest Anatoly Tokov. Training under ‘The Last Emperor” Fedor Emelianenko Anatoly has had an impressive career and despite just being 26 years old with a record of 22-1 seeing 18 of those contests off with finishes and on a current 15 fight win streak. Anatoly has impressed every step of his career and with fight-ending-power in both hands he has fast become an ACB favorite.
The coming together of these two warriors at this point in their careers is one of the most exciting collisions of talent you are likely to see.
Alongside the excellent title fight the card is full of exciting fighters and match-ups. We will look to see if the hype that surrounds Ali “Hulk” Bagov will continue as he takes a step up in competition against the dangerous Renat “The Gengis Khan” Lyatifov. Bagov takes the phrase ‘submission specialist’ to another level with all of his 21 fights ending by sub and with 20 of them not seeing the end of the 1st round.
We also have the return of Sergey “Honda” Khandozkho who will be looking to bounce back off his last loss to get back in the win column and back on the title hunt as he takes on the flamboyant Brazilian Mauricio “Bad Boy” Machado.
