Just watched a few AC/DC videos online recently and I noticed how Bon Scott gets more praise as a singer than Brian Johnson in the comments section.
Not only does he get praised on youtube, but he is constantly mentioned in the album reviews on Amazon.
    Why is that?

I personally think Brian Johnson was better at hyping the crowd more and created an energy level with the band that Bon Scott couldn't do.
But I actually know nothing about Bon Scott from my experience because he was before my time.
I can't even picture AC/DC as a band without Brian Johnson.

    Which singer do you prefer?

Draw. They both were/are a great fit for the band.
Rarely has there been such a successful major change in a band, in this case lead vocals.

Bon Scott without question. Back in Black was fantastic but AC/DC turned into a pretty different band with Brian Johnson.

You can hear a little of the Back in Black sound in Highway to Hell but its sort of tough to hear Bon singing Back in Black.

Bon Scott by far. The band had more of a raunchy sarcastic metal edge with him. After he died, they became more of a standard rock band.

Back in Black was Brian Johnson's best work with AC/DC; the longer he's performed with them, the more he's sounded like Thunderstruck-Donald Duck.

Powerage is my preferred AC/DC album. That album was basically my guitar teacher for a couple of years.

I like them both and all fans should. They are quite different. Bon's voice was more fun and comical, Brian's voice was/is more powerful and masculine. Back in Black would sound totally different coming from Bon, the same with Big Balls sung by Brian.

Some songs sound great from both guys like T.N.T., Highway to Hell, and Let There Be Rock. Also Brian has more of that sleezy playful Bon vibe in the live shows.

Bon Scott actually picked Brian Johnson as his replacement. He showed the Young brothers some of Johnsons work from I think it was Geordie and after Bon died they got him into audition. He sang Whole lotta Rosie and Nutbush City Limits and was hired on the spot.

Bon was the better showman, had better stage presence. Voices were similar imo.

I personally prefer Bon, but Brian deserves a lot of credit for his longevity and also he kills it on a lot of classics, it would be hard to imagine Bon doing a better job on some of his songs, especially the Back in Black album. Both these guys are legends RIP Bon

If there was a "Greatest Replacement Front Man" category at the RnR Hof, BJ wins it hands down. He's the man.

    But Bon tho

If you make me choose then I guess Bon but I like both. AC/DC is just one of those bands I grew up with so either way is fine. Which is not at all like Van Halen with David Lee Roth compared to Sammy Hagar. Diamond Dave made the band much better than Sammy did.

Not many did it better than Bon, Brian is great and an amazing replacement but the Bon era owned.
