Is there anyone else who is simply dissapointed we don't get to see this talent compete in the cage more often?I'm by no means a McGregor fan, I find all of his antics and trash talking/philosophy mostly ridiculous, but there's no denying this is a man of some serious skill, and I hate seeing people dismiss him just because they want to oppose the team McGregor camp.
In that spirit, let's talk about some theoretical matchups for Connor once he returns
vs Khabib: I don't think Conor can handle Kabib's wrestling. People said he looked weak vs Iaquinta, but frankly Conor does not have Iaquintas physical strength or TDD. He does however have vastly superior striking, but also a tendency to look exhausted after 10-15 minutes
vs Ferguson: This is the big one for me. This is my dream fight in current MMA. Two offensive, technical LWs with finishing potential. I have no idea how this one would go. On one hand I think Ferguson has the submission and grappling edge, but on the other hand I could see Connor just exposing his frankly crappy defensive striking and just demolish him like he did vs Alvarez.
vs Barboza: Another dream fight. I think Conor takes this one on account of being mentally tougher and more gritty, but it's a hard one to call. Neither is likely to complete a takedown on the other.
vs Porier/Gatheje: Connor kills both
vs Lee: I think Conor might lose this. He's grappling has always shown holes, and I think the hole is even bigger than we might think. I suspect every strong wrestler with enough cardio will give Connor trouble. Fortunately for him, I don't think Lee has the best cardio.
Feel free to fill in
