Is there anyone else who is simply dissapointed we don't get to see this talent compete in the cage more often?I'm by no means a McGregor fan, I find all of his antics and trash talking/philosophy mostly ridiculous, but there's no denying this is a man of some serious skill, and I hate seeing people dismiss him just because they want to oppose the team McGregor camp.

In that spirit, let's talk about some theoretical matchups for Connor once he returns

vs Khabib: I don't think Conor can handle Kabib's wrestling. People said he looked weak vs Iaquinta, but frankly Conor does not have Iaquintas physical strength or TDD. He does however have vastly superior striking, but also a tendency to look exhausted after 10-15 minutes

vs Ferguson: This is the big one for me. This is my dream fight in current MMA. Two offensive, technical LWs with finishing potential. I have no idea how this one would go. On one hand I think Ferguson has the submission and grappling edge, but on the other hand I could see Connor just exposing his frankly crappy defensive striking and just demolish him like he did vs Alvarez.

vs Barboza: Another dream fight. I think Conor takes this one on account of being mentally tougher and more gritty, but it's a hard one to call. Neither is likely to complete a takedown on the other.

vs Porier/Gatheje: Connor kills both

vs Lee: I think Conor might lose this. He's grappling has always shown holes, and I think the hole is even bigger than we might think. I suspect every strong wrestler with enough cardio will give Connor trouble. Fortunately for him, I don't think Lee has the best cardio.

Feel free to fill in

Well as the Mayweather fight sold better than any UFC fight then I guess more people were happy to watch him doing celebrity boxing than in him having a real fight.

He used to fight regularly and he would have had what 4 or 5 fights against the top LWs by now if it wasn't for the fact that a joke boxing match earned him more than those 4 or 5 MMA fights would have done. And 'fighting' Mayweather was all upside, in terms of profile and if he'd fluked a win the upside would have been massive.

No. His nut huggers are more impressed with his money. They are NOT fight fans. And they don’t want to see him fight. Because being the front running goofs they are. They are 100% sure he gets his ass kicked by any high level contender at LW. And smoked by any decent WW.

He said himself that he beats on midgets. Well no shit Sherlock.

Yes.

Good fighter, fan friendly style and until the last year or two took risky fights head-on. Lots of intriguing matchups for Conor at LW now which we probably won't ever see and that's a damned shame.

He’s a mediocre fighter who was given favorable matchups and had some luck at the right time. He’s the most overrated fighter of all time

I duno i like seeing how much money he has, just so much of it . It's intriguing to see how much he can make.

I hate the dude. For all he represents, and for becoming famous/rich for being all that is wrong in this world, amd making his horde of fanatics think what he does is "cool".

But I don't fault him for not fighting.
I mean, he broke bank with FLoyd.
There's no more money or upside to take risks to his brand right now.

He stays on the news, and his horde of braindead gullibles gobble it up every time he hints coming back.
To them, he is always "about to come back". Every time they salivate and are as happy as if he did come back.

So now that he shamefully forfeited both his belts, he will probably come back against the neophyte Floyd in MMA and/or the journeyman Nate.
Both winnable fights for the most money without the danger of being humiliated.

Rematch vs Jose or Dustin.
I dont like the guy but i enjoy watching him fight. Same w bones. Can't stand the guy but damn is he fucking good in the cage

I agree with most of this, but you can't deny the talent of McGregor. He's a skilled fighter. You can see by the way he moves, the way he assesses distance. You're a moron if you dismiss Conor because of his fans.

Yeah, but part of his mystique and rise is that he DIDNT fight tons of top competition frequently. If we had seen him in the cage in that way he might not have built up the huge amount of popularity that he did.

This for me is the main point about this whole Mcgregor carnival. Whether you like or hate him and Im most definitely in the latter. Hes exciting win or lose and he brings a lot to the sport when he fights. Unfortunately we are stuck in this purgatory of his haters saying hes overrated and his ball sniffers saying hes the greatest MMA fighter ever. We all know the quick route he was given for the champ champ narrative but all I want to see is him up against a couple of elite LW. Even just Tony and Khabib. To see how good he REALLY is. Theres no denying what he did at FW and the win over Eddie isnt given as much credit because Eddie was on his first defense but that was a great win also.

Theres no denying hes up there but how far up there we'll never know because hes too busy taking Instagram videos of his furry fucking slippers. I don't care about his bank account, What hes done for this or done for that Im a fight fan and just want to see him back up HIS OWN WORDS of being a 'Busy Champion' (now Ex of course). Is it understandable with 100 mill in the bank, of course. But thats completely irrelevant when discussing how good he is inside a cage

I wish I could luck into an 90% KO rate and two belts in both organizations I competed in.

I’ve seen him fight enough. I won’t deny his skill for obvious reasons. I’m just not interested in his fights anymore. I used to be. Hungry Conor was great.

He's got disgusting stand up, especially against smaller guys. Still not convinced he can stop takedowns and use defensive grappling though.

So many interesting matchups.

I'd love to see these four fighters fight anyone.

Goator McGregor

Khabib Magoatmedov

Goaty Ferguson

Max Goataway

Any matchups with any of these four fighters are fights id love to see.

Conor vs anyone, Khabib vs anyone, Tony vs anyone, Max vs anyone.

Great and exciting fighters.

Yup that's how I feel. The shitty part is not knowing... maybe he would have gone on a dominant run that would have vindicated him as the legit GOAT level fighter that his fanboys think he is. Or maybe he would've got his ass whooped by some of the high level LW's... Who knows. It would just be nice to see him fight cause he was definitely an entertaining fighter.

I honestly don't care too much how a fighter is as a person. Jon Jones is a piece of shit human but he's fucking amazing to watch fight, and his dominant run of knocking off all the top LHW contenders was one of the most entertaining things I've ever witnessed in MMA. Conor's become a bit of a piece of shit as well, but I really wouldn't care if he fought every 4 months. It's the fact that he never fights and that people still talk about him all the time that's annoying as all hell.

Seriously, learn how to spell Conor's name correctly.
