Imagine if you will an alternate universe in which the spider never made his way to the UFC post pride. How do you think the MW division would have shaped up? Would things be radically different without a dominant champ/p4p king? Any other effects you could envision? Thoughts,comments,opinions, stupidity commence.
I think Franklin would be the happiest guy in the world and been the champ alot longer. Although Sonnen would have tooled him bad
That's a sad alternative universe... he has been there for so long ther could have been a pretty big list of MW champions. I think by now Sonnen, Maia and Machida would have held the belt as well as a few others.
We would have seen some great match-ups that never happened. Franklin/Marquardt I think would have been real intersting and whoever won would probably stayed champ until Hendo. Then maybe a Hendo/Sonnen. Also more stars would have been made and less people would be saying that MW is weak. Dominant champs are cool, but they muddy up the talent in the division.
The only good thing would be that there wouldn't be any of the moron silva haters who make shit up to bash him
Hendo wouldn't have beaten Rich Franklin in a 5 round fight. A lot of people thought Rich won their 3 rounder in which Hendo was slowing down later in the fight
I think that Middleweight belt would belong to Machida or possibly Rashad right now. Whoever dropped down after losing to Jones first. If both, then Machida.
Franklin would have had at least 3 title defenses possibly. Losing to Marquardt who loses to Sonnen (still) who losees to Maia (still) who loses Vitor who loses to Henderson. lol crazy world.
Then if that happens then the Middleweight division will indeed be the weakest division since there is not even a dominant champ IF ever nobody dominated it.
