if one were to hit the carotid artery, to make one pass out, where (closer to the chin or the lower neck) should one hit? how should one hit? forearm? chop? punch? both sides or just one? how long will one pass out? is it dangerous? how hard does one need to hit? :icon_twis Thank you and please hurry! lol

First off... You shouldn't EVER punch someone in the throat. It could very well collapse their trachea and cause them to die.

You can't just tap someone's artery to make them pass out. That said, the arteries run on the sides of the head. So your best bet would be a forearm to the side of the neck or a cross chop like motion. The artery is inside a layer of muscle and you need to "dig around for it" in order to find it - so poking it would be pointless.

I'd try to hit about an inch under the jaw line, from a level cross angle (think spinning backhand motion.)

Edit: Most of the effect from this actually comes from slamming the nerves near the catarod artery. Meh. Educational still.

To make some one pass out you have to squeeze the arteries for a period of a few seconds to restrict the blood flow to the brain. You can't just hit it to reduce blood flow.
