From my understanding he improv the slap in Godfather before saying 'you can act like a man'

Oh really, didn't know that.

I'm pretty sure he improv with the cat. I think the cat just walked into the scene and Brando just took the cat and started petting it. Wasn't in the script.

Brando's performance as he grieves of his wife's body in Last Tango in Paris is phenomenal.

Yeah that one he was absolutely emotionally naked. He never went all out like that again after. He felt he was humiliated and ashamed about it.

The votes are nicely spread out.

I heard that too but that was disputed by it also being in the book. I don't know, never read the book. I did hear that Brando wanted to get the non-acting singer to be more persuasive so he smacked him, which the actor actually laughs, so I don't know what's true.

I guess as far as the most well known performance, the godfather, don't know if it's the best. They say brando didn't care about acting by that time, in fact, one actress, forget who, said that James Dean's early death was a tragedy in that two great actors were lost because Brando had no one in his league to push him to grow.

did he show his wee wee in that one? he mentions something about being naked and his wee wee shrank up from the cold.

ya, that's what I heard too, and Brando, for all his foibles, loved animals.

Brando was a star before Dean was even auditioning. I did enjoy Giant, though.

Godfather is the best movie so it's not surprising it's in the lead. In terms of his individual acting performance though, I'd go with Waterfront or Streetcar.

I think Streetcar is his best and imagine he just came into the acting/movie scene and just hit out of the park grand slam. Yes he did The Men previously, but Streetcar was legendary, put him on the map. And changed acting in film forever.

I know, but Dean was right on his tail. Dean worshipped Brando for what it's worth.

He was so fat in Apocalypse that they couldn't really show him from the chest down.
I feel like thats tantamount to missing weight for a big fight lol.

Godfather is the only answer here sir.
after agreeing not to be fat. Coppola says he dealt with it by filming him "in slivers". He was just doing it for the money by then, still delivered a good performance though. Haven't seen his really late movies, saw one the other day I hadn't even heard of.
