There is a line in the movie to explain the state of the world that is something like this "Guns and explosives could do very little against the creatures".
Just to later in the movie, they kill a creature with the most generic century old design shotgun shooting some standard buckshot.

That really rustled my jimmies. It felt almost like some shit hollywood liberal propaganda trying to say that guns failed to keep us safe, just to one hour later they save the day with the help of a gun.

So this family could kill the creature with a shotgun and the army failed with much better weapons? Fuckin bullshit. A Ma-Deuse would mown those fuckers that looked like a rip off of the Resident Evil lickers.

When its head armour or whatever is closed. They opened it up with the sound. Still I agree its silly that a little girl figured that out when the worlds grestest militaries couldnt.

I just don't buy that the armor would stop nukes. Or all the crazy weaponry we have. I don't think any non-intelligent aliens would pose a threat to us.

She somehow had a baby while remaining quiet. How did they learn ASL? Why did they want to bring a kid in this world? Young kids are impossible to keep silent and so they must have been inside a padded room 24/7 for 10 years.

I enjoyed the movie thoroughly. That being said, the plot had more holes than screen door.

The largest plot hole being, how in the hell did those blind ass aliens move around without bumping into things? I mean the movie showed them running through the forest at maximum speed, yet they dodged every tree, bush, log, and rock???

And dont get me started on methods to kill these things, I mean couldn't we just lure them to specific location with a loud speaker, then bomb them?

Like I said I enjoyed it, but mainly because of the atmosphere I guess.

    Echo location could explain that.

But if they have echo location they should be able to find people without them making a sound so...

Didnt they arrive by way of meteor? I recall their shell being described as pretty much indestructible to any kind of standard weaponry, I dont remember any mention of chem, bio or nuke vulnerability though. Shit the present day real world army couldve tried to microwave them and it seems like that might have worked. Good movie nonetheless.
