I never fought both Amature or professional so I can't really grasp the reality of being a fighter but I imagine several points.

1. What would it feel like losing a grudge-match? with a full arena in front of 50.000 or 80.000 on National tv both KO or Submission even Decsion how is the feeling different.

2. Or just basically getting your shit pushed in on international broadcasts without it being Grudge-match?

3. What is the feeling of losing a Title fight?

4. How about the haters who always seems to pop up when someone loses?

Heres to hoping somone can guide us through this different scenarios of emotions

You get punched in the face for a living. Let that sink in a little.
I never viewed getting punched in the face as an issue but it's the humilition of losing or losing to a rival and general defeats that hurt plus the brutal haters that seems to pop up. It's very stressful

If you want to be a fighter you should exchange your bain cells for glory or in the most common scenarios for nothing . You can be a hero or you can be a meme .

I'm into my 20s so it's to late for me to become a fighter now. I had to start young if I wanted but it was never my dream really. But I can't help respecting the shit out of all these women and men who step into that octagon and just keep coming.

They deserve respct lose or win

It's less toughness that turn people into fighters, it's more their lack of A level athleticism and better alternatives in pro sports that force them into MMA. The vast majority of MMA fighters grew up playing other sports and never excelling. The vast majority are also not smart enough to make more money in other fields, so they end fighting.

More often than not they're compelled by circumstances, instead of being the toughest guys around. Just like soccer players are not necessarily pussies, they just flop because everyone in soccer does it and it helps win matches.

It’s a hard life, considering most will never make enough to have a prosperous career.

Shouldn’t you be a fighter bro?

You would only understand it properly and the same for me. If we got knock'ed out in a full arena on national Tv. The emotional aspect is very tough not the bodily harm

I do fight I have a 2-3 record against my ex it's kinda lame but she uses pots and pans and fingernails against me so it's not entirely fair.

I'm saying 99% people who fight MMA don't have the ability to make it into any mainstream sports in the first place, so it's not like they could have made it into a cushy sport like basketball or tennis but chose MMA instead because it's tough. If they could they'd be playing in the NBA in a heartbeat, but they couldn't.

This seems off-topic. There is literally several billlions walking the earth and they all like different things. Some were wrestlers from young age, others boxers etc etc. The life dosen't revolve around football or NBA. These who had one or another form of martial arts background make it to MMA since they already had some basics

I couldn’t handle it.
It was humiliating enough to be the only guy on my junior high wrestling team who lost at a home meet!

There really are not that many grudge matches. In the amateurs and regionals it is pretty common to face the same fighter multiple times. And there is never anything personal after words. Look a Travis Fultons record and it gives you an idea of what a lifetime regional fighter looks like.
To make it as a pro you have to be able to remember its a job, and just because you loses doesnt make you less of a man. People with that attitude really shouldnt be a fighter.

Honestly I think I would have had a mental break down if I had lost a title fight

man I have so much respect for any fighter win or lose entering that cage willing to put it all out there

That's not the case at all if you listen to any fighter interviews they will all talk about being huge fans of non-combat sports, and American athletes in particular would talk about how athletes in the big 4 sports are paid compared to MMA.

Very very few people in MMA are only interested in fighting like Joe Rogan is. They're usually big fans of one or more of the big 4 and they are very envious of how athletes in those sports are treated, they just don't have the ability to make it in there. You have to take into account the American sports culture and rigorous recruitment system they have throughout middle/high school. If you have potential in any of the major sports you'll get recruited away on a scholarship.

There's a reason why the talent level at LW/FW/WW is abundant while at the higher weight classes is scarce, because bigger athletes who are good tend to get recruited into the big 4 and not stay in MMA. Those who stay behind don't have the option to choose for themselves.

Mighty Mouse for example grew up play a large number of sports but was never any good at them due to his size.

Also if you look at what the average soldier is capable of during WW2 you'll see the average human is plenty tough when pushed.

What about lifelong martial artists like GSP, Crocop or Machida? They fight because they’ve spent their entire lives training for it

I don't respect the ones that don't deserve to be in their like him.
