I have seen interviews of Islam in russian, the guy got jokes. They are just pragmatic in the way they speak cause of lacking vocabulary.

Then again anglos in general are a bit smoother or less direct than other European languages that is true

I think that is just perception of the russian sphere in general. Russian actually sounds very endearing if you were to translate it in to english but characterwise they very direct.
