News A mad man drove his car into the dealership after being told he can’t return him.

in the US? where, haven't heard about that. the most common fraud I've run into with cars is just plain having sit wrong with it that they will not disclose because they are worried you won't buy and that goes for private or dealerships. People are fucking greedy but in that industry, there is nothing to keep anyone in check. It's no wonder more people don't get shot or killed with the shit they pull. You take a persons last few grand away for a piece of shit that you had to know was a piece of shit, you're doing something dangerous every time because you don't know the person you're doing it to.

It's a new scam, started over the past year. All over the US. Basically any car dealership that doesn't have a website is fair game. The Indians do the scamming by phone so they're not limited to any location.

Eventually one of the defrauded people will show up at the car dealership they mistakenly think is associated with the scammers and shoot someone. Dangerous stuff.

Anyway, in just about every case of buying a used car things were wrong, most of the time the seller had to know, in a couple cases they didn't. People are sick with greed. i wouldn't sell no shit like that to anyone but most people (i

hell ya dangerous stuff. People's selfishness will be their own ruin. I used to work off of craigslist and there were a few people that thought it was ok to get work for nothing. Every so often I hear stories on the news that don't give a lot of detail but I would bet it's a situation not far from that kind of thing. Not everyone has their head on straight enough to handle that kind of treatment. I wonder why it doesn't happen a lot more, or at the very least, just old fashioned asswhippings. That's on my mind alot as Luigi did his thing, people are mostly docile and mouthy but they'll take it up the ass without really doing anything in most cases.

A lot of people are desperate to find used cars. Emotions running high, etc. Working class people can't afford expensive new cars.

Even the Indian scammers have picked up on it. They've started impersonating real used car dealerships that don't have a website. They make a website pretending to be them and they list fake vehicles in the hopes you'll wire them money. The people who get defrauded then show up to the real dealership, that doesn't have anything to do with the scam, demanding their vehicle or money back. Most of them get taken for tens of thousands of dollars.

There are no bigger crooks than cars dealers. Of course I don’t think going this far was necessary.

This is why new car dealerships ship the older, junkier trade-ins off to used car lots.

Don't want to deal with people shocked that the cheap POS they bought is a cheap POS.

Not all of them do do they? I think many lots sell both new and used.

As far as shit like that happening, it doesn't seem to happen that often than it makes the news. I remember one time when I was a teen, the lot across from my first boxing gym got sprayed with acid and being young, i had no understanding of what seemed so blatantly stupid and the news didn't help with just making it sound random. Now, I understand, those people are assholes.

It's the entire industry, I bought a used tire a few weeks ago, checked the price on it before I went but also mentally prepped for bullshit they'd give me when I got there. they charged 7 for used tire disposal and 3 for using my debit card. That kind of shit can really get under people's skins. I just said, "I knew you guys would come up with something" and let it go. You just have to realize that you're dealing with subhumans sometimes in life.

Sold as "a mechanics special, as-is"

There are no returns. The buyer is a tard and deserves to be prosecuted.
mechanics special is usually a term for something serious being wrong that a mechanic might be able to fix easily and resell. The "as-is" is every used car and anyone that buys a used car could have it happen. Hell, I've known people to buy new cars that were about as useless as used cars. Crazy but true. Humans make the shit, especially in the 80's when americans were fuckups, there would be some lemons.

What's so hard to understand about "mechanics special" ?
If you're not a mechanic there's no way you should by the car and if you are you'll be able to determine what it needs before purchasing and be able to make a sound decision.
Sometimes I just wonder about peeps.

Lots of used cars sold through dealerships come with at least limited warrantees.

can only imagine what ts would do and how ts would be if mcdonald's were to get his order wrong and/or ban him due to wheezing the mcflurry machines

Also, people go with what they see. I've had to scrap about 3 vehicles where someone would think they could make a buck. One I sold to my best friend for 500, he was helping me out but I told him the car was junk. If I had it to do over again I would have just insisted on him realizing he couldn't sell it, he got pissy at me. But again, it's like they say in the food industry, 'people eat with their eyes" it's not always telling someone a car is junk. Hope springs eternal as the saying goes.

Yep that almost never goes well.

My coworker sold his Geo Metro to the guy that works the front gate at work and quickly became the guys personal mechanic after everything on the car started breaking.

Nearly all dealers sell new and used, except for maybe the elite vehicle lots.

What I'm saying is most have a line somewhere 6k, 8k 10k, whatever. Below that, they won't deal with it. They sell it off to the cheap lots, because they don't want to be in the trashy car business.

ok, that makes sense. they're all trashy though, it's a business full of tacky people. I've yet to find any good people, only difference is that of degrees. some have more good than others but all the car people I've met are slimy, i hate having to deal with any of them. that moneygrubbing shit always turns my stomach it's against everything I have ever been about, so naturally that's my reaction.

Ok not in my exp.

Has to be a higher-end used.

A car that's 2 yrs 25k miles, originally $60k - might have a warranty from 1-12 months, plus manufacturer's warranty may transfer.

10yrs, 100k miles, originally $30k - no, you're not getting any warranty, unless maybe they offer a 3rd party warranty you can pay a lot extra for.

it's not just the car industry but even when it's spelled out in black and white, getting money back is never easy even when "the rules" say that you should.

Anyway, I stay away from those sorts of messes, I'm not rich, I don't need to look rich either. I know of a couple illegals who bought a tesla with their big tax refund, that kinda thing is just stupid. I'm sure they have the time and energy to pay for that type of bullshit but I don't.
