This seems like as good of a place to ask as anyone else. A bunch of smart dudes in this forum, so here goes...

Been thinking of trying some different products to combat hair loss...namely Rogaine or Nioxin. Anyone ever tried them or have an opinion based on the science behind them?

As a dietry supplement I don't think it's much good.

Smart dude or not, read the labels before consuming.

"This product may be harmful if swallowed. If swallowing or overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center."

The science is what it is. There are a ton of studies done. Honestly you would probably be better off on a hair loss forum or talking to a dermatologist.
I can tell you that propecia is your best bet, however it is oral and will tax your liver, and there are possible side effects. I've also read positives on topical spironolactone. Rogaine will work but it is not a dht inhibitor like propecia and spiro. so while it may help thicken hair, those new hairs are still fighting the effects of dht.

Just do it...
