4 Olympians and I'm looking forward to watching Carlos Balderas the most

  • Josesito Loepz vs. Saul Corral, 10 rounds, welterweights
  • Alejandro Luna vs. Andrey Klimov, 10 rounds, lightweights
  • Carlos Balderas vs. Thomas Smith, 6 rounds, junior lightweights
  • Misael Rodriguez vs. Timothy Carroll, 4 rounds, middleweights
  • Eimantas Stanionis vs. Rasheed Lawal, 6 rounds, welterweights
  • Lindolfo Delgado vs. Luis Silva, 4 rounds, junior welterweights
  • Money Powell IV vs. Jordan Marriott, 4 junior middleweights
  • Maricela Cornejo vs. TBA, 6 rounds, female super middleweights

Meh. A tuneup for Josesito Lopez makes a good card?

Lol PBC is having a rough go. Not promoting/advertising much. Leaping around a bunch of platforms and lacking consistency. If I didn't know any better I'd think that it was the FOX exec that botched Firefly's airing that was running PBC's schedule.

^yeah maybe just me, but I'd take several high quality cards (Thurman-Garcia for example) over a bunch of filler fights with guys I've never heard of

not to be harsh, but what's the end goal with PBC and all these filler looking cards? They're probably not gonna get good viewership because nobody knows who's fighting

I like PBC having lots of cards. I like the weekday cards and I like the increased frequency as of late. Doesn't bother me if many of the lesser ones don't have big names. It's more free boxing on tv, I don't get what's to complain about. If you're a casual fan just skip them and let the hardcores watch them all.

wasn't mean as a complaint.... Just a simple observation, that aside from Josesito Lopez I have NO idea who any of those guys are. Doesn't mean I won't watch, but my interest is pretty meh, though on a Sunday ... hmmmmm.

more doesn't always mean better, just saying.

I wouldn't mind it if PBC wasnt footing the bill

^right, that's what I'm getting at. PBC can put on all the cards they want, and over saturate the market but if a majority of these events are not getting the desired TV ratings ... what's the point?

PBC has got to try and continue to build stars.

Not only that, they are paying for everything. Meaning they will lose money for big fights or any fights eventually.

The only networks I know that footed some of the bills are Spike and Showtime, but I wouldnt be surprised if Bounce has done so either.

I made this point before, but I always find it odd that some of the fans in this forum try to express themselves as if they are an investor or stakeholder in the industry or a journalist covering it rather than a fight fan. I mean, I'd love to see PBC or any promotion do well and make money if for no other reason than I'd like to see it continue to broadcast cards. But I'd rather watch the fights and bet on them to entertain myself than count their money or bemoan their marketing strategies and perceived flaws. PBC has a lot of cards, that's a good thing, even if some of them are obviously lesser than others. Get ready to complain more, because with the new Golden Boy deal, ESPN has already scheduled and is also going to broadcast a lot of what some may consider mediocre cards too and that's okay by me. More than okay really, as I love the more frequent and middle of the week cards mixed in with their aggressive schedule. Putting on some less significant cards doesn't take away from the more rare big shows and marquee events that keep getting scheduled throughout the year as well.

^ If mediocrity is the standard you've come to accept for boxing cards... who are you to criticize? Everything doesn't have to be a unification #1 vs #2 in the division, but shiiiii at least try to GROW the sport a bit and give us a reason to watch. We already know boxing fans will watch boxing (duh) but can they grow the sport beyond that? That's not the "investor" or "stakeholder" asking ... just mild curiosity.

if PBC could (and this is stretching it right now) but follow me, become like a boxing equivalent to the UFC, that'd be a huge get for boxing. The brand (PBC) is known and popular enough to where it A. commands enough attention B. does solid viewership with C. fights people WANT to see. That'd say a lot.

PBC related, Edner Cherry fights April 4th I'd watch the shit outta that.

Since you mentioned it, as a big UFC and MMA fan, I pretty much have the same philosophy in that I like having a lot of cards, ideally every week or almost every week, even if some of those weeks in between Conor McGregor appearances are a so-so card from Fortaleza, Brazil or Copenhagen, Denmark or any other random place without any major star power. I don't think that's a bad thing or some blanket acceptance of mediocrity. The reality of the world is that there is always going to be a continuum from awesome cards at the top, to great to good to mediocre to kind of poor starting with the big PPV cards with the sports' top stars, to free tv cards with some big names, to decent cable tv cards with reasonable matchups followed by weaker cable or online streaming cards with considerably lesser interest except for the hardcores. That's for boxing and MMA alike. There's nothing wrong with that- not everything can be the best every time. If the industry only broadcast the fights that casual fans WANT to see, what does that look like? We get a dozen cards for the entire year with only big names to draw casual fans and everything else disappears because it's mediocre? Some people just have a completely unrealistic expectation.

^I watch a lot of UFC/MMA too, and as you're probably well aware the UFC's schedule has gotten buuusy to say the least.

I don't think it's some terrible abomination to have the quality range, you're talking to someone who was a regular watcher of ESPNs Friday Night Fights. And I have to say more often than not, I enjoyed Friday Night fights. My biggest fear is that all the abundance of boxing dilutes the overall quality, but I guess it is what it is, if there's boxing on TV and free I'm not going to 100% rule out watching

Just with PBC, a brand that is still getting established, I thought they would be more mindful in having quality over quantity.
