The "nate beat him on 10 days of course be beats him now" logic is so flawed. Heres why:

1. He may overwork in a full camp.

2. He has more time to overthink the fight. Therefore being less instrinctive when he fights like last time.

3. He now has more pressure to win wherein last time he didnt have much.

There are more but those are my top 3. Look how bisping faired against rockhold with less time...did worse with more.

In the end this argument holds no merit

lol @ nate "overthinking"

Yes, cancel all training. Just roll off the couch and you'll be in optimum fighting condition. Makes perfect sense.

If anyone's overthinking it it's Conor's team. Completely abandoned his previous camp style that got him where he is.

It is flawed, but not because of those reasons. It's flawed simply because fights can always be different.

all fights should be announced the month that they're taking place

It can do ,who is to say nate didnt pick up and injury and say i cant pull out its to big of a payday pac style against floyd.

All of those things are potentially true! It is certainly possible a full camp could harm his performance. He could also come in injured, which was unlikely the first time. However, on balance, coming in with a full camp is better than not. Just because there are counterarguments doesn't mean that's a meritless claim.

The first fight was the two of them battling based on their natural abilities with no real game plan. This fight they will have the benefit of a full camp to target train certain aspects to prepare for a specific opponent.

Nate is always in good cardio condition and Conor had a full camp. I think the benefit is being able to prepare for a specific opponent. Conor says he is coming in with a game plan which to me means he knows he cannot beat Nate based on natural ability as demonstrated in the first fight.

Nate now has time to prepare for Conor who he already has beat and seems motivated. I don't see game plans being the deciding factor in this fight after 1 to 2 rounds. I think it is heart. Conor has never been put in that situation before where he cannot simply bully someone. We know that Nate will take a hell of a beating and continue to try and push through. I don't believe Conor has the same heart, we saw from last time when the going got tough Conor folded.

Conor made a sad attempt at a takedown when he was in trouble on the feet. As Tyson said, everyone has a plan until they get punched in the mouth. I think if Conor doesn't stay very strict and do enough with this magical plan early, based on how these two match up on the fly, Nate takes him out again.

If anything a full camp benefits Conor more than Nate being that it is his only chance to be victorious. I think if Conor doesn't make it happen within 2 rounds then the plan fades and it's all Nate from there.

Full camp is always going to be better than no camp. Excluding injury of course.

One thing is obvious is that Conor is his own coach
This time he did no bs and did a real camp like never before
Nate probably did the same so its safe to say that there will be no excuses in both camp whatever the winner

Good call, good call, good call.. Only problem is, Rockhold was preparing for Weidman. Beside Anderson being an elite striker, him rolling into the octagon and taking on DC, DC was preparing for Jones. That changes everything.

1. Diaz brothers don't train for camps only, their life is completely focused on training for many things
2. Nate is not an overthinker, he already makes an effort to think
3. This one maybe

This times 10000000. That should worry anyone pulling for Conor. He's not going to turn into a cardio beast in one training camp.

I noted in another thread that even if a fight is announced three months ahead of time, a fighter should start camp just one month out. Provided of course he does not become a fat slob between fights.

A 12 week camp only came about because that was the amount of time it would take to properly promote a fight. In other words, there is nothing inherently superior or natural to a 12 week camp.

Biggest one would be injuries. If true he injured his knee so bad a month out he couldn't really grapple then hurt his rib 2 weeks out and he couldn't strike then thats a huge negative.
