Essential argument:
When Conor is in good shape (not rocked, exhausted etc), his Jujitsu seems to be where he needs it to be (in the sense of being able to getup, defend, etc) . This doesn't absolve him of round 2, but it shows that in good shape he has some sophisticated guard play.
We can take other fighters who's BJJ have looked poor when exhausted (Lyoto, Vitor, Weidman, Etc) who normally are sophisticated as an example.

Conor McGregor pulled a high level unorthodox sweep in rd 1 (start of video),

McGregor utilizes the Curu Curu guard (similar to X guard but not ) to effectively sweep Nate off while Nate's momentum is going forward, this technique is rarely capitalized in an MMA fight and difficult to

Of course, in the 2nd round, Conor's TD attempt and BJJ defenses was poor, but there is an argument to make that Conor was exhausted/rocked, because TDs are abnormal behaviors by Conor and was probably done in a panic to avoid TKO.

Video goes further to describe Nate's sub.

we noted that nice little roll he had in the first round.
He's a good blue belt or a kavanagh brown belt

Eddie Bravo said he has trained with Conor and his jits is good

Something he needs to work on but definitely not as bad as people believe it to be.

Eddie Bravo says Conor is good, that's good enough for me.

Lol, I don't want to get into credentials, Diaz was not playing BJJ at that time, he was punching through that entire scramble.

Fail by Thomas. Vitor and Lyoto do not have sophisticated ground games. Vitor threw punches while fully mounted and Lyoto has always been over rated as a ground fighter. Perfect example of belt level meaning little. Weidman is a far superior grappler to the other two guys mentioned.

I do not think Conor is as bad as believed to be but it is not a comfort zone that much is obvious. I also do not believe he is a brown belt as far as ability. Maybe a brown belt under Kavanagh, but no.

He has definitely made strides and he is a really hard worker. I do feel it is something he should dedicate far more time to and really make it an emphasis in his training. What I've read about how they train at sbg leaves something to be desired.

He can take his pick, either he has good BJJ and gives up or simply bad BJJ.

Id rather have bad BJJ and not fold as soon as a fight didnt go my way. He is the polar opposite of people like Frankie Edgar.

Yeah I feel he is a striped blue belt to purple belt level. Not bashing not a knock on him. I just don't believe his ground game to be that refined.

nate diaz has submitted 4 bjj black belts

no shame in tapping to nate

Nate Diaz is just very, very good at BJJ.

If Conor got schooled by an average BJJ player, then fine. But there's no shame to be beaten by Nate. Much the same way as Maia dominating Gunnar does not make Gunnar bad, Maia is just that good.

not only that but i believe he overhypes everyone, just like schaub
Eddie has always been a hype man. That isn't an insult it's just his personality. Conor went to 10th planet and asked if he could roll with Bravo's best guys. He probably respected that and admired the balls, everybody knows Conor's got balls and I'm sure Eddie liked him. It's probably not a neutral statement for those reasons.

Hype job. Conor tore his own ACL trying to pass the crushing half guard of blue belt Max Holloway.

Conor is at best a blue belt. His 'sweep' if Nate was a drag down while Nate was punching, then Nate pulled him into guard. Conor would have been inverted crab swept but he grabbed the cage to prevent it.

Luke Thomas is a goof. Conor's ground game is suspect.

That was a nice ass sweep in the first. But that came off an easy takedown by Diaz. In the second Diaz found got conors timing and his range. Conor got lit up on the feet in the 2nd.

This right here should be far more troubling to Conor, Kavanagh, and his fans. He was taken down easily by Nate friggin Diaz. They will avoid Edgar like the bubonic plague.
