This fight happened on August 8, 2009 at the Wachovia Center in Philadelphia. The fight with former category champion Forrest Griffin. Griffin was knocked down three times in the first round. After the third knockdown, Forrest signaled that he was finished. This fight won the "Beatdown of the Year" award by Sherdog.

I'll never forget that night, I was in awe at Silva's greatness a true once in a lifetime fighter.

90% of guys on here don't even know who Griffin was/is because they are the new wave of fans but for us who have been following for years know how tough and strong Griffin actually was, a problem for most guys, except Silva!

I was actually worried Griffin would use his size to wear Silva down and after seeing the Rampage fight I thought no way he gets finished and boy I was wrong!

How is TJ ducking a guy he agreed to fight? The UFC said they Guarantee that TJ makes weight but refused to back that up with their cheque book. If DJ prepares for a title defense and TJ misses weight the fight is off and not a title defense. DJ requested the UFC pay him his full money and TJ's as well if he missed weight. Dana says he guarantees TJ makes weight but refuses to actually guarantee it. Also DJ has more wins at BW then Anderson has defenses FFS. They are both great fighters but Anderson gets all kinds of credit for "Moving Up" against cherry picked style match ups.

And I like Forrest, he seems like standup guy. It's just, he is not that good of a fighter and it is just surprising he ever became the UFC LHW champion.
