its my first post yes but ive been viewing the forums and reading constantly for months now..I decided to go for my first real grappling tournament ever, the problem is ive only received shortly over a weeks notice. I only have 8.6lbs to lose which with a wrestling background will be fairly easy but could someone please tell me what foods would be good for energy...perferably light foods, since pasta's weigh me down too much and caffeine pills make me jitter far too much. so what would particularly be the best fruits/veggies/nuts or oats to eat leading up to the comp from personal experience!

Pre-fight you could use apple juice at a ratio of 9 parts water to 1 part juice for a little extra energy and to help reduce fatigue.

Trust your instincts and go with what you know. It sounds like you already know what to do so don't change to something unfamiliar before a competition.

does sound a tad odd doesnt it...but all through highschool i just wrestled nearly malnourished and living off of power bars four days before each match....id just rather learn to do it much smarter this time around
i can sweat off the weight now with ease but id like to keep the energy levels and performance as high as possible

i wrestled in highschool but now train with different styles..."bjj, judo, free style wrestling"
 
Bananas are a staple for me the day of the tourney. Look for non-acidic fruits, they are what you want.

i actually just picked some up on my way back from class this morning...
any reason for non-acidic?
 
because u dont want to get acidy when ur grappling as u'll hurl.

Accelerade worked great for me before my MMA fight. I ate:
Peanuts and spinach all day. (no upset anything with them)
Two broccoli crowns.
8 oz Shark 45 minutes before my match
1 scoop Accelerade powder.
15 grams Creatine Mono day of the event w/ 10 grams Beta Alanine split up into three servings, all driven by Accelerade and fruits.

Good point. I forgot to add I ate 3 servings of dates the day of the fight.
