In your graph, the % difference between the Dems and GOP supporting secession is not that great whereas the % difference between Republicans and Democrats in the South today is 46% .

Mine is a national average. The average of the 5 sections currently comes out to 29% dems and 39% republicans, so it was 7 points more for dems 3 years ago and 10 points more republicans now, so really not that different. The republican average is lower now than the dem number 3 years ago.

The South seceding would be bad for minorities. After the Civil War ended, the Union stationed troops in the South and life got better for Blacks. When the Union pulled troops out, life got significantly worse. If the South were to secede today, civil liberties and freedoms for: non-Whites, gays, atheists and equality for women would go downhill.
