6'3 Luis Pena moving from LW to FW

Guy was such a self-absorbed cry baby on TUF. Looked like a very good fighter but wouldn't stop bawling at every opportunity.

Luis Pena didnt even look like UFC material in his last fight.....he should fight Vick....battle of the twig boys

He was talking up a big game before his last fight

Is this the black dude with orange hair.

Bad move for Pena, should stay at LW or WW at that height

Weight cutting should have limitations. Height and walking Weight should be considered in there.
Wait, this aint a sport

Ideal "in cage"/"walk around" weight formula - (((Height in cm + Reach in cm)/2)-100) = Ideal weight in kg; then, (Ideal weight class in kg x 2.20462) = Ideal weight in pounds.

Ideal "cutting" weight formula - (((Height in cm + Reach in cm)/2)-110) = Ideal weight class in kg; then, (Ideal weight class in kg x 2.20462) = Ideal weight class in pounds.

Therefore, at 6'3" with a 76-inch reach, Pena should be walking around at 202.32lbs, and fighting at a minimum of 180.27lbs, or in the 185lb weight class.

Eat like an adult, train like a professional athlete, and you'll add the requisite size to match your height. Then nut up, and fight in a division suitable to your frame.

Lots of mad shorties in this thread.

Sorry, short fatties.

People are three dimensional, height us but one of three equally important ones.

People are different.

If you are going to bother writing out a formular at least include chest circumference as a if not the key factor.

Is he underweight because he's incapable of adding weight, or because he hasn't ever put in the sustained effort to do so, with training, diet, etc?

It shouldn't be a stretch for a guy in his mid-20s with his frame who is eating, training and supplementing like a professional athlete to get up to 185-200lbs.

Why the fuck does he think he will find any better success at FW when he looks like he cuts a lot to make LW
I made this thread a week ago, saying he will be fighting @ FW in Nashville. Thought it would be against Bochniak though..... so close

Man this guy must be mentally weak, 1 loss and already going a weight class down.
Although he is already killing himself to have a huge size advantage on LW's.

Probably because there are more examples of extreme cuts paying off big time.

That only lasts a few years then their bodies say no more, like RDA, Conor, Pettis, Hendricks, etc. They make it to the top but don't do too well after. But that's probably worth it to be champ. Long term health should be the priority, it's bad enough they get concussions, no need to drain the body with big cuts.
