UFC 196 was 6 years ago today. McGregor was at his peak and the hype train was in full effect. Conor had a aura of invincibility around him and Nate Diaz with his weak jaw took all of McGregor’s shots and choked him out. Some sherbros will have you believe Diaz was over 200 pounds that night.

It was a great win, but in hindsight, he's never really been on Conor's level. Nate just happened to be a bad match up for the Irishman. In the end of the day, Conor became a two division champ, while Nate was a gatekeeper for most part of his career.
So, it is kind of like a Tibau/Khabib situation, Tibau gave him hell, but Khabib's much better, obviously.

McGregor’s career could have taken a whole different trajectory if RDA didn’t pulled out and Conor never had to fight Diaz.

and then disappeared ever since..
underrated opinion: Nate is a journeyman like Jorge too but diaz fanboys wont ever admit

Diaz made Conor his female dog and made him tap. Tibau couldn't even win a round against Khabib.

Bad take by a sherbrah.

Conor's 1-3 at LW and killed himself to make FW.

"Nate's never really been on Conor's level"...amazing.

While Conor's record @ LW is less than stellar, he still managed to capture the belt, and at FW he was a force to be reckoned with.

Now, Nate got repeatedly humiliated whenever he he faced any legit WW or LW. Even a small 170er like Rory was easily manhandling him. The same happened at LW, against RDA, Benson, Josh Thompson ...

Unlike Conor, Nate's never made it to the elite rankings of ANY weight class division. Therefore, it is fair to say that Nate's never really been on the Irish's level.

They are both not elite fighters.
Nate Diaz made the most stupid decision in his life to give conrat a rematch.
He could have delayed it and make him beg.
Nate Diaz got played by the UFC in the end. They are still playing him.

Nate literally fought for the LW belt and faced the best. He also didn't seek out the ghost of Cerrone at WW.

I swear, fans that were brought into the sport by Conor are truly amazing. You'll learn in time.

Diego at WW in Dublin would be a cracker eh numbnuts?

This myth that Nate is a bad match up.

Mcgregor's biggest weakness' are wrestlers who can take him to the ground and hold him there, and southpaws with a good leg kick to attack to his lead leg. Nate possesses neither of these attributes. He's just a durable punching bag. The fact Mcgregor gets tired after ~9 minutes of fighting is really his own problem, Nate's boxing-only approach should be tailor made for Mcgregor.

Conor was very much an elite fighter at his peak. similar to Jon people's (justified) hatred for the men causes them to overlook the greatness they achieved in the cage.
