So yeah, I'm definitely on the short, stocky, chubby side. I recently started training BJJ and am in need of getting a BJJ gi. What is a good, somewhat loose fitting brand of gi I should look into getting? A lot of the guys in class seem to have quite snugly fitting gis which definitely wouldn't fit on me, at least not in an aestethically pleasant way

I think i heard someone saying ouano could be good, but any suggestions are appreciated.

You're definitely an A3.

Thanks guys.
My club sells the vulkan lightweight gi, are they of a similar fit with the koral? I was thinking of one of those or maybe a koral classic.

at 200lbs you may be an a4 top and a3 pants.

i'm guessing no gi is going to fit you perfectly out of the box.

either get an a3 and don't shrink it or get an a4 and shrink the piss out of it.

i'm 5'11" 200 and wear an a4 shrunken

I'm not all fat, but a layer of flab on at least a decent amount of muscle so I think I could probably get away with an A3. :icon_chee
We have a chance to try on the gis at our club so I'll probably just try an A3 vulkan on and see if it fits.

I am 5'8", 212lbs and wear an Atama A3.

Sleeves were a bit long out of the bag. Two warm washes and dries and it fits like a glove!!!

Go with the A3

We're the same size. I have a Padilla & Sons gold weave A3. I did shrink the arm length by initial hot wash.

I got the vulkan A3, a very good fit. Even the pants weren't too long, which was something i was kinda expecting.

Can't beliece just how light it is, especially in comparison to what I've been using, a double weave judogi :)
