55% of $660 million of FOX/NFL deal will go to players

They have a union and negotiate contracts.

11m per team, even if it went directly to the players, which it wont, you have to think about how many people are on an NFL team. 53 players, for practice squad players that's nice, for stars in the league that's a couple of games played.

What's the cut for UFC fighters getting from UFC currently?

0
But sit back and wait for mmas lowest of the low aka dana fans to tell us how poor fighters are 'hungrier'
Cause drawing less talent and having to rely on cheap sub par coaching always made any sport wayy better

3 Reebok kits and a hotdog brander

Im surprised the fighters havent gone on a strike yet.

Mma fighters arent the brightest bunch

Most NFL players already make $2 million a year. Adding $11 million to an NFL team means an average of $207,000 per player assuming they divide it equally, which is the only way this is even remotely a bargaining chip. I can't see people who already make 7 digits a year giving in to TNF just for a 10% pay increase

What do you mean giving in, as if they have a choice. Atleast now they will be better compensated for playing. At the end of the day it’s one game a season and it creates a mini bye week for the players....

I don't know the details but the first line definitely says players. The second line is averaging it $11 mill per team. I don't think every team will actually get the same amount of 11 mill.

You are 100 percent wrong. Each team equally shares television revenue in the NFL.

The UFC has shit they have to do with that money. They're not partners with these fucking guys. The Reebok deal has these guys rolling in it. Plus they get tax free backroom bonuses. But tell no one of this because
<{danayeah}>

No, they don't get tax free bonuses. All bonuses are taxed. Believe that.

You idiots cant have it both ways

Screaming for fighter pay but bashing nate and conor for not fighting

The two guys who raised the bar
These idiots shit on the fighters for not accepting the lowball offers from the ufc, and then when they do finally accept the low ball offer, these same idiots are the first to say.. “well, they shouldn’t have signed the contract then!!”.

Regardless of who else you add to payroll, they're still getting a cut of the 660 mill. No way the team earns 11 mill and keeps it entirely between off-field staff and the players don't demand a cut.
I'm not debating whether the players get a cut. I'm just wondering the actual break down, and what money will go where.

Nobody's saying Nate has an obligation to fight, he could just as easily retire if he wants. Same with Conor, the issue is he's hijacked a belt and won't vacate.

That costs OTHER fighters money. Fighters can't climb rankings to become contenders, and the top fighters can't promote themselves as champs without being questioned.

The NFL sucks my asshole, and has nothing to do with players standing/sitting/kneeling.

There seems to be a lot of misconceptions how the NFL works here is so information on how all of this works.

TV money in the NFL is shared equally with all of the NFL teams and is their largest revenue stream. In order to control costs and to better create competitive balance all NFL teams have a salary cap that they can spend on their players. This money is ONLY used for the players and not coaches or staff or any other expenses. This was set to 55% of gross revenue. (There is also a salary floor but it is never a factor in the NFL.) Every year this cap number is set from the prior years revenue. What this article means is that the Cap number that teams can spend next year is going to go up by at LEAST 11 million per team. (This is only 1 of several TV deals so this number is almost certainly going to go up.)

Players under contract will not see any of this additional money until they sign their next contract. Because of the extra money in the salary caps this is a particularly good year to be a free agent. It all works out in the end as unless you are on your last contract\retiring you should see some of this money in your next contract negotiations.

Great post & thank you

I really hope that they schedule some better match ups for TNF now that it is going to FOX at that price tag.

Wont matter.

3 days isn't enough recovery time for what those guys go through on Sunday.

Thursday night football will always suck.

Thank the gods for fantasy football.

i'm surprised they wouldn't add a saturday night game too....
