5 reasons why Jon Jones will keep eye poking opponents.

Bump for the next Jon Jones fight being 18 hours away.

One warning and then a point deducted each time. It's the ref's job to do something about it.

Disgraceful to watch, really.

Why the one warning?? Other sports don't give out warnings regarding rule infractions, the play is whistled down, you get two in the box, you lose ten yards, two free throws, etc. That's basically saying he gets one freebie every fight.

Unless the referee deemed it truly accidental such as JJ looking the other way, the opponent moving in and poking himself or something along those lines, but for example the Glover fight, he gets a warning and then immediately puts his outstretched fingers back in his face- that's as close to an intentional unintentional eye poker that you can be

Joe Rogan keeps saying there is no way to deal with eye pokes and it is part of the open glove sport.

I say STFU Rogan...very simple to resolve this.

Anytime you reach your hands out above a fighter's chin with finger's extended, it is assumed you have intention, to poke them in the eye. No more of this, "oh hey, he was just looking to push away and keep distance" bullshit.

Kind of like every knee Kongo has ever thrown, it is always a dirty low nut shot he is throwing.

The Ref gives one warning (very important, stupid refs have to actually do something), next time a fighter extends his fingers out and moves hands towards face above the chin....1 point deduction.

Simple, done, no more finger pokes. Either that, or there is going to start to be a lot more point deductions and fights being decided by this.

Same with ground game, you put fingers around/near eyes..1 point...bye-bye...

Jones would lose every fight then.

Exactly. The way it works, he can get a few in for free. It's ridiculous. Those 1 or 2 eye pokes are enough to make any opponent think twice about moving in. Not to mention the chances of ruining their vision partially for the next 15 min.

It's not so much about Jones as I hate fights being ruined by this. Unfortunately Jones does it so often that the discussion can't be had without him as the prime example.

I wonder how big of a role eye pokes will play tonight; it's an x-factor.

I have a feeling Jones will try to dissuade Cormier from going for takedowns with this dirty-ass tactic.
