Championship bouts would still be 5 - 5/Minute rounds.
How do you think this would change things?
How about 1 round with a 15 min time limit.
I think there would be more rounds, but less time in each round....
Edit - How about 15 rounds with a 1 minute time limit?
And miss out on all of the awesome intrigue of tactically winning fights based on limited offense at certain parts of the fight? Fuck that!
5 minutes is still a short amount of time for the grappling exchange, imagine 3.
i was thinking the same. if you got taken down consider the round a loss. i'd rather see the top 3 fights of a card just be 5/5 rounds
Why does this thread keep popping up? Who the hell can possibly think this is a good idea?
I'm watching boxing, and got to thinging how offense /exchanges are forced and the pace is different due to short rounds.
I think there would be less holding and staling, I think the pace would speed up, I think fights would be more offensive and aggressive and I think there would be less fights scored close.
Let's have thirty 30 second rounds.
With point deductions for stalling.
It would be a disadvantage for grapplers.
How about no rounds, no time, no fight.
Winner is decided at the weigh ins by an online vote.
Great... Even more commercials I'd have to endure watching the fight. Pace for televised events already painful and this would make it even worse
Too short for the fight to evolve. 5 minutes is ok.
It would be cool if at least some fights had 3 minute rounds, maybe some have no time limit. It should be part of the negotiation for non-title fights. Why not make it interesting.
I wonder if TS gave his idea any thought at all, it's horrible no matter how you look at it.
1 round, 15 mins is what I want.
Sure. Five 3-minute rounds for striking-only bouts and one 15 minute round for grappling only agreements. Sounds intriguing.
