The bill includes more than $320 billion for the Paycheck Protection Program created by the CARES Act, which was passed late last month. The program, which quickly ran out of money because of heavy demand, provides forgivable loans to small businesses that keep their employees on the payroll.

About $60 billion of the additional PPP funding would be set aside for businesses that do not have established banking relationships, such as rural and minority-owned companies. Expanding access to the aid was a priority for Democrats who worried that some businesses were being shut out of the fund.

The bill also provides $60 billion in loans and grants for the Small Business Administration's disaster relief fund, $75 billion for hospitals and $25 billion for coronavirus testing.

The interim bill does not include the additional funding for states and local governments that Democrats had sought.

Every member of the "squad" made an impassioned speech and only one voted against it.

This bill leaves a lot to be desired and the House could have passed a better package but they did what Pelosi told them to do.

What the fuck is the point of having the Dems in control of the House if they do what the Republicans want anyway?

Enjoy your additional 484 billion.

The wealthiest of the wealthy already got their 4.2 trillion 3 weeks ago.

I wonder why she voted against it.

It should include rent, mortgage assistance but thats too much for the GOP. However, corporations and the super rich get welfare

To make up for last time.

Also, this bill doesn't provide healthcare, UBI, rent/mortgage protections, etc.

They are trying to piece meal stimulus packages.

I don’t understand how 20 million Americans are gonna provide healthcare for their families now.

You couldn’t make up a better reason for a national healthcare system than this pandemic. Just one more thing Americans have to worry about as every single first world nation laughs at us as they enjoy their national healthcare.

I guess aoc wasn't allowed to include her roommates bartab

That or she couldn't find a way to ban airplanes.

I wonder why she voted against it.

“It is simply outrageous that Congress is considering voting on a small, patchwork bill after being out of session for a MONTH and recessing again without knowing when we will next convene. Thousands of people are DYING. PPP will quickly run out again. We need a bigger bill.”

It's almost like Google is your friend. She knew the bill would pass and voted against it to amplify the message that she doesn't believe enough is being done.

I wonder if the Republicans who voted "no" have the same sentiments.

But, but, but, but, but, but, but how will we pay for it?

Depending on the source, the number of uninsured Americans before this was 30 - 50 million. The number of Americans with inadequate healthcare is over 50 million.

Did they really need to shut the country down to print 8 trillion dollars out of thin air? Did they think we would have been upset, or care at all?

yes America and the 3rd world. I really don’t know what these millions of people are gonna do without HC. They could barely afford it before and if they had it thru work that luxury is gone.

This is a wake up call for failures of capitalism. The need for democratic socialism should be more obvious to people. The need for Universal Healthcare, universal education and free University, guranteed jobs program, nationalized energy sector (extra revenue for the Fed and not going overseas), ban on stock buy backs receiving aid. Investment banking regulations. Green energy, unions, nationalized utilities.
