of MMA fans not truly knowing what they want.
Here we have a consummate professional and top tier athlete/MMA fighter who doesn’t parade himself for the cameras - who rarely engages in trash talk and even then, they’re really only organic verbal disputes. He neither says ludicrous statements in search for attention, nor hangs himself on an artificial gimmick. He trains, improves and puts on excellent combative performances. It’s really unfortunate his systematic destruction of Nate Diaz will never get the credit it deserves due to a small last moment blip - and if that doesn’t epitomise the current MMA fan, I don’t know what else does.
This dude has always been criticised as being boring. His 8-fight winning streak isn’t worthy of a title shot due to this dull demeanour and personality. These are all criticisms thrown his way from apparent MMA fans. The same fans who’re constantly berating the McGregor ideology of fight promotion; still use it as a fundamental marker on who should deserve a title shot as it’s more logical from a business standpoint - whilst the competitive perspective is completely ignored or isn’t viewed as important.
It’s a sad state of affairs that the fan has now seemingly become the promoter and an apologist for the machine.
Next time you criticise a Leon Edwards, please realise what you’re actually criticising, and by the same token, the things that you’re endorsing.
thank you for attending my Ted talk.
