News Nate's Body Guard Nicholas Maximov Will Fight Karl Roberson at UFC 266

23 year old undefeated 6-0 prospect. He seems promising. Roberson has been in there with some known names and title contenders, he's a pretty tough challenge. Good luck to him.

And oh, guys he's not actually a bodyguard lol, more like a Diaz brothers protege afaik.

Yeah, he's not actually a bodyguard, lol. He stepped in on short notice at HW on the Contender's series last November and won.

A little click bait there huh?

Yep, good stuff. Let's see how he does.

This is a ridiculously tough debut opponent.

Karl is a GLORY vet that has decent grappling.

Hard to see Maximov winning this but if he pulls it off at 6-0 then he definitely has a bright future at MW.

The first 5 guys he fought were green cans with losing records - which is totally appropriate as that is how you get started. He did win a decision on Dana's show last fall at heavyweight against a solid regional guy.

IMO I think this is too soon. He's only 23 and fought other very low quality regional guys, he should get some more experience before moving to the big show. He's fighting an opponent with 8 UFC fights.

Rooting for him.

The usual disclaimer that anyone can be caught with anything as far as crazy KO punches go.

This is a horrible fight for Roberson. he can't prevent takedowns or submissions and basically all Maximov can do is takedowns and submissions. This is a tremendous mismatch favoring Maximov in my opinion.

Maximov is an interesting prospect, MW has some winnable fights for a rookie too so hopefully he gets built up slowly. Roberson's grappling is his downfall so this is a very winnable debut.
