So I wanted to see which division gets the most (and least) spotlight and promotion in the UFC. To figure that out I came up with a point system based on placement on cards.

PPV Main Event (4 points)
PPV Co Main (3 points)
FN Main Event (3 points)
PPV Main Card (2 points)
FN Main Card (1 point)
PPV Prelims (1 point)
FN Prelims (0 points)
PPV Early Prelims (0 points)

I focused on the top 10 fighters in each division plus the current champion to see which division’s contenders were being featured in the most prominent spots the most frequently, thus giving an idea of which division and it’s contenders are promoted the most. I used each fighter’s most recent fight that wasn’t for a title and it’s placement on a card.

Of course this method is imperfect and flawed to a degree. It should be taken merely as a point of reference and not as absolute fact.

Wow, that's a lot of work you put into this! The funny thing is, I was just about to guess LW first. With Khabib and Conor there, makes sense. I was going to pick WW next, because Diaz and Masvidal are popular and Usman is on a role. Was debating between HW and MW for 3rd place.

I'm kinda surprised HW is higher than LHW. Damn.

Cool stuff TS!

LW was my guess between the McGregor and Khabib eras they had to spotlight the LW division.

Damn TS. Hope someone's paying you for this.

More proof that women’s 135 was Rondaweight and UFC doesn’t care about anyone else there

Damn TS. Hope someone's paying you for this.

Haha, was waiting for a response like this. Slow day at the office, so yeah, technically somebody is paying me to do this.

i got it backwards, i thought it was WW and then LW

Crazy to me that heavyweight is ranked so highly.

Next ranking about Rogan's height?

jk amazing work! Really interesting.

I've said for a long time that the UFC loves burying men's flyweight fights deep in the prelims where only the hardest of hardcore fans will see them, but not even I thought they were this good at it. If you wanted to kill a division, this is how you do it.

Also a bit surprised that men's 135 is that far down, there's a bunch of high profile fighters in the division so I keep thinking they'd be higher up.

Another thing you could add or at least keep in mind is the p4p rankings.

It really shows the bias for 155 with:
-Conor
-Tony
-Dustin
-Gay Cheese

as non champ p4p member at a given time

This is actually what inspired me to do this. The other day another poster brought this same point up and I wanted to see just how true it was. No wonder nobody knows who half these guys are.

Honestly, thank you... It's rare I come to a post. And It's just a fact based/educational post that can generate conversation. Well played TS....
