Firstly why does he have to finish Diaz? What is wrong with point fighting? If that is the way u win the fight at least risk to yourself and at losing the fight then that's the correct tactic to employ. Diaz wants Edwards to wade in and brawl with him because he knows he is less skilled than Edwards is and he knows his chin is still the toughest of any fighter in the division and he can get a lucky shot in.
Secondly Edwards took the fight to Diaz and that's why he pieced him up. If he was just point fighting he wouldn't have done that and if he didn't take any risks he would have been caught by hat last minute slap and cross combo.
