It is a huge difference unless they are used to southpaws. Their normal combos don't work, you need different strategies, tactics, combos, etc for southpaws. Plus your defense is going to be different as well since everything being thrown at you will be different. It doesn't matter to the stance switchers who can effectively fight in both stances, only the fighters that can't switch stances.People overrate southpaws seriously it'ss not that much of a difference sure it forces you to change a bit but nothing huge.
If you train with southpaws maybe not even that much but every now and then it's pretty easy to adapt to that stance switch. Usually, you just need to use different weapons and defenses not like someone changes to southpaw and you go "Woa what do I do now?" At that level, you need to be used to it. some people overrated it like it's impossible to beat.It is a huge difference unless they are used to southpaws. A good example is Conor when he fights other southpaws. He does worst vs southpaws because he's used to using his southpaw advantage vs orthodox fighters.
Yeah that's if they have access to southpaws and are used to it, if they aren't it shows in the fights. IDK it's not that hard to come by a southpaw these days natural right-handers go southpawYeah that's if they have access to southpaws and are used to it, if they aren't it shows in the fights. Offense and defense changes completely with a switch of stances.
Just because they are southpaw is just one aspect of it, the striking has to be at a level that is useful to prepare for the person they are fighting. Just a regular southpaw that fights nothing like your opponent or isn't technically close in terms of skill will not do much to prepare fighters for a high level southpaw striker.IDK it's not that hard to come by a southpaw these days natural right-handers go southpaw
Finding someone who is a good southpaw isn't that hard though fighters fly in other fighters all the time just to prepare for someone of a similar style.Just because they are southpaw is just one aspect of it, the striking has to be at a level that is useful to prepare for the person they are fighting. Natural Right handers that go southpaw and spent their career fighting southpaw is a southpaw fighter. Random fighter switching to southpaw occasionally isn't. They will not be effective with their offense or defense at all. Real switch hitters spend equal amounts of time in each stance so they are effective with their defense/offense in either stance.
For the ones that do that yes, not everyone does that though.Finding someone who is a good southpaw isn't that hard though fighters fly in other fighters all the time just to prepare for someone of a similar style.
Even then it's not like you have to get someone with an identical skill level there are plenty of great southpaws in every state of the world and if your fighting someone who you need a world-class southpaw for then chances are you can fly someone in.For the ones that do that yes, not everyone does that though.
No it isn't the same just because they are a southpaw, fighting/striking style matters. A good muay thai based southpaw is not the same as a kickboxing based southpaw, or boxing based southpaw, or slick style boxing based southpaw, etc. Big difference and just fighting in the same stance is just one part of the equation.Even then it's not like you have to get someone with an identical skill level there are plenty of great southpaws in every state of the world and if your fighting someone who you need a world-class southpaw for then chances are you can fly someone in.
when did I say that's all you have to worry about obviously there are styles you're not going to get a perfect clone but it's not that hard to find multiple people with similar styles. No it isn't the same just because they are a southpaw, fighting/striking style matters. For the basic style textbook fighters yes. Not the other fighters that do things other fighters don't do. They will have a hard time finding anyone that can try and replicate that style. In boxing it would be hard to find fighters to replicate PAC, Loma, Bud, etc. Coaches always talked about trying to replicate PACs style in training because his boxing style mixed with his power is so unique. He was a nightmare for coaches to train for. In mma the fighers they find "unorthodox" are also hard to find people to try and replicate, they may try to but it will be nothing like the real thing.when did I say that's all you have to worry about obviously there are styles you're not going to get a perfect clone but it's not that hard to find multiple people with similar styles.
