Chandlers chin isn’t so bad. It’s his recovery-

In the will brooks fight, after the exchange chandler just didn’t know where he was. He was confused and all over the place. Just couldn’t find his footing.

in the Oliveira fight he rocked Oliveira bad, but Charles was game and avoided the follow up shots.

He was moving his head on the ground to avoid blows. He was tying him up with his limbs to take away his leverage.

Chandler, when rocked, loses all of his composure and tries to run away slowly.
He could have clinched to minimize damage or covered up, but he just couldn’t find his footing again.

He eats big shots and doesn’t go out cold. but just can’t recover from them.

Oliveira looked like he was doing the sit down and go into fetal position again. Pretty badass how he survived and looked ready to go in round 2.

You're right.
His defense is also pretty bad, overextends a lot.
He really shoulda let Charles standup, his ego made him lose that fight. Wanted to prove a point.

This really was the definition of a 50/50 fight.

Oliviera bobbing his head on the ground to survive reminded me of what Mayhem Miller tried to coat 14:42 here

Nate Diaz did that same, on all fours move your head around defense, when he got dropped by Paul Daley. Your opponent can't kick or knee you in that position so they have to stand their and swing for your head and try to avoid you grabbing their legs

I've been saying the same thing

He showed poor fight IQ throughout the fight to be honest, but the end was really bad

That's what I thought too when he didn't just let Oliveira up, you have a BJJ guy hurt on the feet, and you wanna land gnp? For real?

That what happens when your chin is shot.

He made a mistake popping back up after he ate that hook. He should have stayed down and recovered.

Dude, you're being polite. Not being able to recover is part of having a chin.

He's a pressure fighter that can't fight while being pressured.

Agreed. On top of that his sloppy defense and head positioning results in him getting cracked with flush shots. Usually when fighters are sound defensively even punches that look like they landed flush are usually rolled with or glancing, but sloppy fighters like Chandler just eat that shit whole.

Whittaker had the same issue, sloppy exits resulted in him eating full force punches, seemed to have tightened up that game a bit more in the Gastelum fight.

When I’m sparring someone, it makes all the difference in the world when you’re trying ti land on someone that has sound head movement, because after a while you start pulling back on power just to land. But when you have guys who just present their chin after every combo, you time that shit and load-up because you know the target is gonna be there.

He looked goosed coming out for the 2nd. He just went too far in the first looking for a finish. Reminded me of MCG getting hurt by Nate. Didn't seem like a huge punch but when you're exhausted it's harder to recover.
