In Pride they had Ricardo Arona all jacked up on God knows what.

Obviously it’s working for them to spend more time on the mat than in the weight room.

But it’s interesting to note that the more physical muscular guys are wrestlers and strikers.

BJJ guys have the more slender physique and don’t seem like they lift weights.

Bigger muscles doesn't mean better fighter.

It also doesn't mean more chances of winning.

Jacaranda was pretty jacked before he got old

The more muscle you have the less flexibility you have. Makes sense to why most BJJ guys prefer to have a more natural physique..

I think sooner or later we'll see less and less very muscular fighters, because everything else aside, you ideally have only some muscle while still being the approptiate size for a weightclass, in my opinion.

That's only true if you don't stretch and maintain flexibility as you gain muscle. Look up Alain Ngalani.. if you train flexibility + mobility concurrently with hypertrophy + strengthening you'll never lose it. Bodybuilders just don't necessarily care about it as much, which is where that idea comes from.

There were videos of Maia lifting weights, maybe he doesn't look like shreded like many others, but some fighters mentioned he was very strong at 170

Nate isn't bad but putting him up there with Oliveira and Maia is weird.

Jones isn't shredded but is strong af and Nate was also lifting weights with some jacked up youtuber recently. Then we have guys like Kevin Lee and many others that claim to not lift any weights.
